Poll Who do you want to win? The predator or the prey? (9 votes)

Predator. I don't like seeing animals starve. 33%
Prey. I don't like seeing animals eaten. 67%

Thought this would be an interesting question. So I'm watching the new BBC Earth documentary Perfect Planet, and as with any nature documentary, there are scenes were predators chase prey. I find myself leaning more towards wanting the predators to win, because I really hate the idea of animals starving to death. When they miss their catch, you can just see the desperation in their faces, especially when they have young in tow.

How about you?

It’s fun to see the prey escape. I vote for prey.

Prey, of course. Humans are prey to all manner of social, corporate, and political powers and I rejoice every time we manage to defeat one of them.

This translates to the animal kingdom I think for the most part. Though some of the hunting techniques and evolutionary mechanisms that predators have developed are pretty awesome. Octopus that change color and hide in shells, shrimp that can shoot superheated bubbles of air, and more.

Depends on the scenario. If it looked like the prey had no chance and it ends up being tens of minutes long struggle I cheer for the prey.

I see no point deciding.

A lioness got her jaw crushed when she attempted to take down a zebra. She and her cubs awaited a terrible fate.

A pack of baboons allies with a pack of lions. The monkeys trick other animals to feel secure at a precious source of water, not warning them of the lurking predators.

@JustPlainLucas: theres a balance to everything.

When they reintroduced wolves to yellowstone they found that it changed the entire park. The deer could no longer graze everything so there was more trees and undergrowth in only a few years.

The predator's gotta win just to pass the right of passage type of thing and mastering the kills of a Predator should be tested too. Predator must win at any cost!

If the prey is Hitler, then I would vote for the predator.

Hey, without the predator and prey thing humans wouldn't even be here. The early days of earth were pretty much a horror show in real life. The trex and raptors ripping their prey apart in blood guts and gore. That's the wild. And it's similar thing today as well, but by the time humans are through, both predator and prey will be wiped out. Maybe humans will be the only predator left when the dust settles, and of course the bacteria and viruses on microscopic level. When we wipe each other out, maybe 1, 10, 100 or in a thousand years from now, the earth may return to its wild state.

Prey. Gotta root for the underdog.
