Isn't comparative to a Black person being a Slave I guess. Just like the "C" wrod is offensive because it's what slaves used to call their owners.
I don't understand why some call eachother that word though, very strange.
Snipes_2
Cracker? crackers not offensive imo. its like calling someone a doo-doo-head

Cracker. If someone calls you a cracker, it means you crack whips against the backs of black slaves.[QUOTE="tocklestein2005"]

yeah, seriously, I'm a mexican and I don't really understand this, especially because some people can say the word and other people can't, people can call someone else anything but if someone brings up the "n word" a mayor scandal is made. I might be missing something about this word but I find it illogical
What's odd is, they hate when other races call them that, but its totally fine to go up to your "brotha" and start tossing it around.

It's a derogatory term for a white person.I've had to assist confused white people on this issue before.
"Oh, I don't know why black people get so angry over the N-word. It's not illegal or anything, they should just get over it,it's only a word."
Let's talk about this for a moment. Imagine you've worked hard all day, come home and you find your girlfriend or wife in bed with another guy. How would you feel? Degraded, angry, or hurt I'm sure. Is it illegal for her to do that? Of course not. You can't have a woman prosecuted for that. Does this change the fact that you may feel angry? There isn't one person reading this right now who wouldn't want to take a baseball bat to both of them and drop their bodies down a well.
"Hey I can do whatever I want, it's my freedom, and I have the freedom of the speech, etc, etc, blah, blah...."
"You know what, everything you're saying is true, I'm still going to beat you within an inch of your life."
"WHHHHHHHHAAAAAT!? That's just irrational. You should just get over it. It's only sex."

When black people call other black people the n-word it ends with "-a" and not "-er" and the meaning is changed. Back in the day white people would call black people the n-word ending with "-er" and it was bad.
It's not like people can't use the "-a" version of the word, but people should be prepared for whatever happens if they use the "-er" version.

It's a derogatory term for a white person.OK ok people. i know what it means. as in whip cracker, i know. the "?" was because you said "C word" and not cracker ;).
I find it very wrong. When Black people use it and call each other their n****** but us white people can't use it in any form or where labled racist. They call us crack*** and get away with it.Warship_19That is perfectly acceptable. I can call my friends/family all sorts of things, but no one else can. Like I said, it is all about how the receiver takes the message Do you honestly find the term 'cracker' to be offensive?

The world will never make sense.
My God, I've agreed with you. Quick, say something about politics so the universe rights itself again!I've had to assist confused white people on this issue before.

The fact that it was used as a term of racial hatred for a century, maybe? :|Ninja-Hippo
if it couldn't be used by anyone I would understand it perfectly but it's illogical that a group of people can use it while others can't, especially since the first group are against racism
I don'tNor do I. I suppose how it is received is what can make it so bad. Personally, i dont care for the word and would prefer no one use it. That's exactly how I feel.[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

Bu bu but...
Blacks say it all the time.

I believe it is extemely offensive which makes me not understand the logic as to whySOME blacks walk around calling each other a word that's intended to be demeaning. I really don't understand why SOME blacks want to try to defend calling each other the "N" word...saying they have that right. I just find it ironic that idiots like Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Whoopie Goldberg, and any rapper who insist that only blacks can use the the "N" word, and only blacks can decide who is or isn't a "N", are essentially implying that only blacks can BE "Ns". As if being a "N" is something to be proud of.
I mean one and a half centuries after slavery, 4 decades after Civil Rights, and all you have to fight for is the right to call youself an "N"??? Many people sacrificed their lives to eradicate that word, so let's all just let it die.
So if me and a group of white guys walked up to you and called you that you wouldn't mind.I'm black and i don't get offended by that word. To me its just a word.

It's just censored because accusations of racism fly around when people use it. It's not bad, it just gives a lot of people an excuse to start trouble. Look at it this way. The word queer means strange but most people think of it as a bad word because they only know of it as a term for homosexual. Apparently someone thought some homosexual or homsexuality was strange so they used theterm queer as in strange. But now when you use the word queer people immediately assume you mean gay Same thing with the N word. They don't think of it as derivative of negro. They have their own definitions for it.
To me it is a display of ignorance to the history of what blacks went through. *activates flamesheild* Imo blacks that use it are disgraceful to the people that fought for equal rights. Also, why are blacks the only people that call each other their own racist term?
