I like the Clash, Sex Pistols, etc... But I am mostly a fan of the Ramones the most.
To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Punk anyhow, but the Ramones are my favorite Punk band.
What punk band rises above the rest for you?

I found Blink182 my whole life, I love to drum to Blink182! I recommend Take Off Your Pants and Jacket for a good album to drum to.

Blink182 punk. lol
Punk was my thing in the 80's. Dead Milkmen are right up there:
There's Pennywise:
Flag of Democracy:
And you know, of course, The Dead Kennedys
Damn, I almost felt 15 again there more a minute. Thanks for that.
Edit: Suicidal Tendencies!
The Germs
Black Flag
Minor Threat
Bad Brains
Rites of Spring
All I can think of atm. Not sure I have a favorite.
I used to think I liked Punk until I realized I really don’t know many bands of the specific genre. Sex Pistols, Forgotten Rebels, Dayglow Abortions, Black Flag, and the Ramones are all I can name off the top of my head. Although, I do feel early 90’s Grunge picked up the movement which I’ve always loved. Nirvana, Hole, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, EtH, and a slew of others have close connections to Punk.
My god, did someone actually call Sum 41 ‘punk’?!? Oh dear...
I never really got into punk although I do like some old school Offspring songs Self Esteem, Come out and play, Gotta get away.

Cool......now pick a punk band.
The Clash all the way is the only answer.
@br0kenrabbit: that last one looks like SoCal Lol
They're from Venice, California so it may be.
Against Me! is pretty great
This Bike is a Pipe Bomb has some good songs
Television is amazing. This is kind of a long song but you gotta listen to the whole thing to get it.
The Dicks are nice too. Very raw, angry.
Are we including folk punk too? I think we should :D
Andrew Jackson Jihad is the music my heart and mind would play if it could play music hahaha. These people speak tro me. Black, dark, yet uplifting in a really sick way.
I sing these songs at work and get some weird looks from the office folks.
Mischief Brew is pretty catchy.
When there's 41 bullets, there's 41 thousand thorns in your signs. Ladaladaladlalaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Defiance Ohio ain't bad
The Fall is going back to the 70's, but still good

Hahaha nice list
When I started listening to Suicidal Tendencies as a kid my parents got a little concerned.
"MY best interests!?!" bwahahaha
And yeah, Blink 182 is pop. Punk it is not. Blink 182 and Brittney Spears are the same in my eyes. One of them is just lying about what they are.

It's not just Blink182. Offspring, Greenday, Weezer...all not punk.
If you consider them close enough.......then certainly Husker Du is up there. On the strength of 3 albums: Zen Arcade, New Day Rising, and Flip Your Wig.
But to me, Wire is definitely my favorite, again on the strength of 3 albums: Pink Flag, Chair Missing, and 154. Pink Flag is punks greatest album followed very closely by The Clash's self-titled debut album. But Wire's fantastic 2nd and 3rd albums were the beginnings of post-punk, and their amazing 3rd album from 1979 (154) laid the groundwork for most all of the 80's post-punk music scene. Its no wonder their songs were covered by everyone who mattered.

I saw The Ramones at the peak of their greatness and with their classic lineup around 1986.....one of the most fun concerts I have ever seen, I must have lost 20 lbs in the first 10 minutes of the concert just from dancing.

You're freaking lucky to have seen them live,I'm 45 years old but became a Ramones fan later in life. When I was in my teens the only punk bands I'd listen to was the Sex Pistols. I'd be into bands like AC/DC,Iron Maiden, etc…. My musical interest went 20X as I started to reach my late 20's. I had my head in the sand for quite a few years, trust me long story I'd rather forget, but yeah the Ramones are a band I'd love to see live with lots of classic tunes.
I like stuff like The Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedy's, The Suicide Machines(especially the first 2 albums), Bad Brains, and All Pigs Must Die.
Circle Jerks
Operation Ivy
Screeching Weasel
NOFX
Civil Disobedience
Pennywise
Minor Threat
Descendents
Bad Religion
Gorilla Biscuits
Dead Kennedys
DOA
Gang Green
If I had to narrow it down to 1 or 2 bands, I would probably go with Op Ivy and Screeching Weasel.
@heathen75:
I saw the Circle Jerks in 1981 for the excellent Wild in the Streets album.......fantastic! First time ever "slam-dancing", those were the days when you got knocked on your ass by strangers, but they would help you right back up, noone was out for blood, just release of aggression. Never looked back after that, so much fun.

Circle Jerks would have been awesome to see in their prime. I didn't make my first punk show until 1991. I believe it was Rancid at the Gilman in Berkeley. Like you, it opened the flood gates and it seemed like we were hitting up a show every 3 weeks or so. Sadly, out of the 10 bands on my list, I was only able to see two of them live. Pennywise and Bad Religion.
