What muscles are involved in carrying a girl?

I'm having trouble carrying people in general not just girls. Its not my legs which are having a problem as I ride lots. I don't know what the problem is because when i do it my face goes all red.
So what work out should I do that will make it easier to carry people?

@Skarwolf: Sadly that's probably it.

It's my understanding that it mostly makes your back muscles sore, but it goes away after nine months. Then they just make your wallet sore.
