What do you think of death metal?

It's really not my taste, but that said it takes ALOT of tallent to make a good metal band. When I'm in the mood I can at least appriciate the drums or the guitar riffs. So I would say compaired to alot of rock these days scremo music is pretty great stuff.

What does the rest of OT think?

BTW I made the pole just because I felt like it, I've made better poles - if you don't believe me just ask and I'll try to find a better one to show you.

Just so yo know I picked classic rock for my pole, thats mostly what I listen to. I also like Jazz, Classical music (orchestrated and choral), The Chili Peppers (Old and New), funk, Metal and more.

I put the Chilis on there for fun, just wanted to see what would get picked. It almost makes though since since they are Modern Rock, but (imo) better than most (all?) modern rock these days.

Not my type of metal. I prefer clean vocals. Too much unnecessary growling, it becomes unbearable and pointless. I mean what's the point in "singing" the lyrics if it becomes incoherent and gibberish?

I more into Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Slayer, Pantera, etc.

Death metal is like my favorite genre.

Trash. It's just annoying growling with lame drums and guitar to me. I'm fine with people liking it though (couple of my friends do), I just can't get into it. Though, I must say, they would have some epic concerts.LZ71

and death metal is good i used to listen to nothing but metal. but i dont listen to it much anymore i dont like it on headphones and i cant really blast brutal metal in my parents house :D my faves are/were nile, black dahlia murder, immortal, behemoth, cannibal corpse, death. some of those are considered black metal but i dont really care about subgenres its all just metal to me

And unnecessary? Have you ever heard of Ayreon? Arjan Lucassen writes concept albums and brings in multiple singers from a wide range of genres and styles in order to convey the moods and emotions of the characters. One person he brought in was Mike Åkerfeldt of Opeth, who portrayed the character "Fear", and he had him do growls at certain points of the songs to bring out fear and anger.

I dont like screamo, or christian rock. And other form of metal though, I likeGTA_dude

The only bands I like out of that genre are Amon Amarth, Bolt Thrower, Nile, and Vader. Everything else is complete trash, IMO.

Even though I happen to enjoy stuff like Death/Doom and Melodeath, I can't get into pure Death Metal. Nothing appealing for me.

:) I feel the same way about death metal...I like the music, but not the vocals. I still listen to it, though, to hear what some metal bands are doing.

I can stand it but I don't like it.

And the Red Hot Chili Peppers are great. Ever since the last record with Slovak forward. I appreciate that they shifted their sound on the last two records instead of doing funk rock rappin most of the time. More singing sounds good to me.
