A hideously unremarkably 1997 Ford Taurus. On the plus side, it's much bigger inside than today's compact cars, has sold a ridiculous number of cars so parts are easy to find and cheap, and other than the transmission has one of the most reliable engines in history. Not very fuel efficient, though - but then again, you wouldn't expect a 3L V6 to be efficient even if it only puts out ~160hp (seriously, how did they manage that few horsepower from that volume). It's also visually bland and undesirable, which means I don't have to worry about anyone stealing it or keying it. And it only cost me $1200 a few years back. So I can deal with it being what it is.DJ_LaeThat seems to be a huge problem with American cars with BHP. They always have ridiculously massive engines and squeeze barely no horsepower out of it which is very strange. Your average V6 should be putting out at least 250BHP Thats an extra 100 plus with a good service you could gain back more horses;)

About the only good thing I can say about the engine is that it's not loud, and has a lot more torque than a similarly sized four cylinder - 180lb/ft, I think. And for city driving that's a nicer thing to have, especially at low rpm.
2007 Nissan 350z Touring. 6-speed manual, Leather, Bose stereo. I'm very fortunate to have my "realistic" dream car already. My ultimate dream car is an Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

Also it ''was'' my dream car but I would love aBMW 5 series

Honda has always made some of the most impressive engines in terms of power per displacement. The original S2000 was 2.0 liters and made 240hp. Compare that to a 1995 Ford Mustang V6- 3.8 liter making 140-145hp. WTF?!! My 3.5 liter V6 makes 306 hp.

Its actually crazy that thats the most they can get out of a 3.8 V6! I seriously don't get it do they even dyno these cars at all? I remember hearing I think of the Ford Mustang 500 which is relatively new and the 500 meant 500 BHP when the engine actually only produced 430!Yeah, that S2000 engine is a fine piece of engineering. Its only flaw is lack of torque, requiring the driver to rev the **bleep** out of the engine to get the car to move.Honda has always made some of the most impressive engines in terms of power per displacement. Hence why alot of people hate Honda drivers:P Gotta love the V-Tec engines though love the sound of it kicking in at 5000rpm[QUOTE="gibson-les-rick"] Just a comparison I had my Integra dyno tested recently and it produced 193BHP and its only a 1.8, gotta love japanese cars! I remember hearing I think of the Ford Mustang 500 which is relatively new and the 500 meant 500 BHP when the engine actually only produced 430! Its all down to emission regulations, during the 80's, the US government put huge amounts of emission restrictions on cars, check out a 1980's Mustang, 5litre V8 with 170bhp, some cars in the UK back then were producing that with about half the displacement The emission regulations still cause issues now, Do you see many TVR's or Nobles in the USA....Didn't think so, Since TVR were still putting barely legal CAT systems on the UK cars when they shut down. Also, Speaking of BHP, The Honda S2000 does produce a ton of power for the displacement, but have you seen the Torque figures? under 160lbf-ft for 240bhp So getting power out of the engine can require soem patience, but keep it in the power range, and you'll be rewarded2006 Chrysler 300C, with the 340 HP Hemi V-8.
A smoker performance-wise, but switches to 4-cylinders for fuel economy when cruising.

I can't deny that there was a serious squeeze on power during the smog era due to emissions regulations. However, Ford was notorious until very recent years for the low specific outputs of their engines. Even a 2007 Mustang V6 with a 4.0 liter V6 makes 210hp. My 3.5 liter v6 makes 306hp under the same emissions standards. It doesn't have v8 torque, but 268 lb-ft ain't shabby.
