Physical copy of 'How to stop worrying and start living' by Dale Carnegie.
Well?
Just got done reading this.
Bit of a bastard.
Very obviously had mental problems but most of what facilitated it was her servants and even local people providing her with girls, in some cases their own daughters.
Suggests it was most likely her husband Ferenc Nádasdy who helped position her in direction, made out as a war hero, but in actuality was a cruel bastard himself.
Basically someone completely off their tits allowed to do whatever they want because of status and wealth, and the only reason she went down was due to others grubbing after her estates, and even then they tried to hide blotching her out of history, very few remnants remain with the only image being a "copy" of a painting.
Pretty great book, though not exactly happy reading.
'The Devil's Notebook' by Anton LaVey. It's a collection of essays that talk about Satanism, ethics, magick and even some bathroom humor. I'm enjoying it.
Having loved the art of Dungeons & Dragons as a kid, this is one beautiful book. In it is an in depth history of the art of the game and its iterations through the years.
Too much and Never Enough. As someone who hates Trump, this book is not quite what I was expecting/ what I was hoping it to be.
Very good background book to the most loved Starwars movie.
Actually pretty well written, but slow and talky, def not for everyone.
Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Still early in the story, didn't get to that wow part. Didn't see the movie, either.
Interesting character. Typically the is a focus on characters with supernatural abilities with heavy slants leaning leaning mysticism and emotional elements, where as Thrawn is more like a Sun Tzu character operating on practicality.
Yea, def one fav characters in franchise. Picking these up for £3.99 a pop on Amazon, price of a burger. Excellent value.
The Chiss as a race are also interesting, detached from central Starwars universe, similar to The Dominion in Star Trek come from uncharted space with little known.
Just finished reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Once again been left feeling speechless and making me feel like what if I’ve done this or taken this route in a different life. I absolutely love the thought on parallel universes had me thinking more & more.
Was planning on reading Thrawn Ascendency but i'll take a time out and jump back to The Clone Wars era.
^ Very good book.
Even without the forward, you can tell this is written by a woman. It's basically romance fan-fiction in places, starts to feel like Gone With Wind. Which isn't bad in the context of the story, if anything it gives it weight, even if it's blunt as a brick.
One of the interesting things the Clone Wars series picked up on that the movies didn't, is that the Jedi are kind of assholes who constantly set up their own noose with multiple Jedi during the course of the show jumping ship, including one who has a pair of bollocks for a chin. Here it's a much better setup than Anakin Skywalker's jank in movies, which isn't hard to do, but it makes logical sense, set up and payed off well.
Unfortunate it was never made into the 8 part arc, I think it would have served the final seasons Siege Of Mandalore final 4 part arc far more so than the fluff that preceded it making it an all round perfect season, or as close to as possible.
Probably dip into Tarkin next.
Physical copies of this book have sold for a little under $100. Instead I went for a digital copy that goes for less than $10.
Lev Grossman, The Magicians
I'm curious to check that out. Loved the show.
Dune. On Kindle.
Classic. I only finally got around to it a couple years ago and it was great. I recently finished Children of Dune but I'm taking a break before I tackle God Emperor. I'm reading Ender's Game as an inbetween meal snack.
