Vegemite - How Can Anyone Eat This?

Vegemite is perhaps one of the worst tasting things I have ever eaten, it so so bad. I cannot begin to comprehend how people in Australia eat this stuff, I just had a tiny bit and I almost threw up from it. Worst part is that it left a really bad after taste in my mouth, and it smells really bad too.

Anyone here actually like it? Im curious as to what Australian users have to say.

I find it absolutely disgusting too, let em eat it tho, while ill eat my peanut butter! :)

I have never tried it as I live in the US, but I've only heard horrible things about it.

Kinda sounds like that nutella crap they eat in some countries. Our grocery store sold some and it was garbage. Luckily it has a long shelf life, cuz nobody buys that crap. I think in the 5 years I worked there I only restocked it once.

Different courses. Take me for example, I love Vegemite but hate ketchup. We all have different tastes. Besides, you'd have to be pretty ignorant to just eat it with a spoon like I've seen some people do.

I understand foreigners disliking vegemite, because I've given them a teaspoon full in the past to try it. lol. Any Aussie knows that you have it THINLY spread. Crumpets with butter and a LIGHT spread of vegemite are some of the the tastiest things on Earth!

Its yeast-extract, a by-product of Beer production... Here in Ireland, and in the UK it's called Marmite. Vile stuff....havokmaster

Ne'er have I dared put vegemite on the almighty crumpet. Tempted, but ne'er. I'll stick to just lathering butter onto them :P It's the Australian equivelent of Ambrosia, so wonderful yet those few worthy can truly experience it.

Cheese on a crumpet? I've had vegemite and cheese on toast, but not a crumpet. So crazy it just might work. Too bad all I have is crumpet toast at the moment (great stuff)

Cheese on a crumpet? I've had vegemite and cheese on toast, but not a crumpet. So crazy it just might work. Too bad all I have is crumpet toast at the moment (great stuff)
