Alaska: Dangerous Territory

American Pickers

Ax Men

Big Shrimpin'

Ice Road Truckers

I cant watch it anymore. It's all reality shows, shows about aliens, or as you said, shows about Nostradamus.

It's a American TV channel dedicated to history. What do you expect?

The same audience watches Keeping Up With the Kardashians or however you spell that crappy name. Do you expect them to want to watch educational stuff?

The history channel is more about ratings than it is history.

I agree. It's the Lowest Common Denominator Syndrome. The same has happened to all of the formerly-educational stations, like TLC, Discovery, etc.

Discovery still has some acceptable programming, but even they are starting to show signs of degradation. The thing im worried about is....does this programming even boost up their ratings? Am i the only one who finds their shows dreadfully boring? How can this be good for business?

There was a two-part "Rise/Decline of the Third Reich" thing that they did recently that I thought was pretty good. But it's hard to name others. One or two more about the advent of the nuclear weapon maybe.

Obviously it does, or they wouldn't be airing them.

A lot of the eductational shows are declining, History Channels shows rednecks, Discovery shows fishermen, NATGEO shows the misfits of society, and Science just tells us how things are made...all day long.

I'm still lamenting of the loss of The Learning Channel's programming where people ACTUALLY learned something remotely educational. Now, I've learned a few things from TLC:

1. Mothers spit out more kids than a clown car full of midgets at a circus.

2. There are people who clip coupons obsesively, possibly cheating stores in the process. I can't buy ONEbottle of ketchup, because the frumpy housewife from Hairy Sacks, NE needs 500 bottles for herself and only pays $2.99 for the whole damn thing.

3. For some disturbing reason, mothers parade their 6 year old daughters in beauty contests byspackling obscene amounts of makeup so heavy, they make the female cast members of Jersey Shore look like frigid, prudish spinsters by comparison.

At least these shows are interesting (I loved the old History Channel, but I'm a bit of a redneck myself). Pawn Stars and American Pickers have some appreciation for our past, but I guess that is as close to History as they are right now. There only show that kind of p*sses me off is Ancient Aliens. NO evidence for these theories, they are all crackpot conspiracies. It's possible that these may have happened, just by going off of the fact that there is nothing disproving ancient aliens, but some of the things they bring up are just plain looney.

Well I think we are seeing an increase in the number of reality shows and they seem to be going down in quality and they are getting weirder, like I saw a trailer for a show called Sex Change Hospital.:| I personally think that eventually people will open their eyes and a slight majority will develop against reality shows.

I like Pawn Stars and American Pickers. Sometimes American Restoration is OK. I will agree that it is getting ridiculous with Cajun Pawn Stars, that dumb gator show, etc. They've gone too far with it all and I'm sure that they'll can them when the ratings don't come in.

I have been hoping that the reality TV trend was finally running out of steam, but its only getting worse. Networks just make sooooo much money off of it since they dont have to do any actual work. Throw some cameras out there, find some idiots, give them some booze and voila.............garbage.

Human intelligence has really fallen from grace. History Channel is now the Crackpot Conspiracy Channel, MTV is now full of idiots and white trash, TLC turned into the worst human beings have to offer, Discovery is now foreign abuse and Mythbusters (thank god we still have that at least), and Animal Planet is now too violent to watch. Half the time I expect "In the Arms of an Angel" to start playing. Even Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney turned into live action shows catering to pre-teen girls. TV has really gone to hell in the last ten years and I blame Reality TV.

Yeah, it's definitely interesting, and when you think about it it might be the most historical show on History Channel right now because they go over ancient civilizations ,certain aspects of those people, and the accepted theories of how whatever they attributing to aliens came to be. It's just the more I watch it, I find myself laughing at these people and wondering why this show exists on History. It should be on Discovery of National Geographic or some channel along those lines.

Yeah, what the fuk happened to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon? CN has such weird cartoons you would think that they gave their animators a daily serving of crack. And Nick just went downhill in the live action department after Drake and Josh, and any cartoons on there are either the hollow shells of some of Nick's better cartoons like Spongebob or dumb movie tie ins designed to give the movie publishers more money like that Madagascar cartoon.

Half the time I expect "In the Arms of an Angel" to start playing. Even Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney turned into live action shows catering to pre-teen girls. TV has really gone to hell in the last ten years and I blame Reality TV.

Cartoon Network............thats another channel that turned into total garbage. Dont even get me started on it.

I think it's just one of those things that it's so universally accepted that it turned to trash, that rants don't even need to be spoken. Just a quick glance and a flash of hatred is all that need be felt.

It is a massive shame. They used to have some great shows and some interesting content. I dont know how they got into this reality tv crap. Awful stuff. Even Discovery has been lacking as of recent.
