Star Wars. For some reason I think Star Trek is a bit boring even though I still like it.

Overall, Star Wars by a large margin. I have TNG by itself tied with Star Wars though.

In terms of universes, Star Wars. In terms of movies, the newer Star Trek movies. In terms of books, Star Wars.

Never was into Star Trek, too cheesy and boring half the time. I tried to love it but couldn't.

This is how I'm going to approach the topic, since I'm too lazy to break down both franchises and assess which one has the overall better content. But I prefer Star Wars. Jedi and Sith are a hell of a lot cooler than Starfleet officers, and light sabers are way cooler than phasers.

I can understand why the Star Wars universe itself is better: a little more diverse and gritter, but in terms of the shows and movies as a whole, Trek still wins by a lot.

The writing and acting in Star Wars is, at best, borderline awful.

My one beef with Star Trek is we never really got good exposure to the "universe" as most of the episodes took place on ships/stations.

Good point, and I never had enough interest to get into the Expanded Universe.

I'd like a star trek series that was more grounded or actually on the plannets.

Hard to say.....I like the tech and powers of Star Wars more, nothing is more cool than a Jedi kicking ass, and Han Solo is the man. But I feel that Star Trek is more "deeper" and it portrays issues that we can relate to today just in a scientific setting. And speaking of science, Star Trek is actually more scientifically accurate in many of it's things than Star Wars.

Overall I would pick Star Trek I suppose. But I like them both, and the last Star Trek movie was awesome!

I enjoy them both, but I prefer Star Trek. Ignoring the books, Star Wars rarely asks the viewer to do any sort of thinking. Jedi are good; Sith are bad.

They are definitely completely different. Star Trek is much more about real world issues that we experience today in our every day lives. Star Wars is more about being fun and action packed.

Trek by far. When you really look at the Star Wars movies they are all really bad. Now the universe Lucas created was amazing, filled with great lore and potential. But the characters, events and dialogue of the actual movies sucked. The best Star Wars products are the ones from other creators who took the Star Wars license/mythology and ran with it.

has to be startrek for me. i see star wars as one giant fairy-tale, a very cool one but it barely goes any further as being entertainment. star trek is equally entertaining but has a lot more depth and relevance in encouraging viewers to think about a wide range of issues from identity and purpose of mankind to its future. the next generation in particular i consider some of the most brilliant tv ever made. besides, they make it so hard to still like star wars after all the stunts they pulled in the name of milking the franchise.

A Trekker is just a fan of the shows, a trekkie likes to dress up as the characters from the shows and speak klingon. Iam a trekker.

I'm not a fan of the previous trek films, so that maybe why I don't mind them stepping all over it. Thought it was magnificent & am really looking forward to the next one.

Star Wars, hands down.

But with the classic that is Star Trek:The Wrath of Khan and the newest films being so good, it wouldn't surprise me if somewhere down the line I switched over to prefering Star Trek. I guess the new Star Wars films really have to leave their mark inside my mind

I'm very partial towards both. I despise the SW prequel trilogy, but have gotten over it a little because of the sale of the Lucas empire to Disney and the announcement of new movies. And the fact the original trilogy (un-"fixed" is still wonderful). The new ST movie-verse is OK. The action is great but the science (something that has made the IP a main interest of mine since I was six) is almost non-existent. And in a world where science popularization is very important (due mostly to the utter lack of it), I would have thought they could have retained some of the "sci" from "sci-fi" that the many shows and movies were known for. All in all, I'm both a Trekkie and a Warsie. Both have their place. But goddamn... those fvcking midi-chlorians. They ruined everything. ._.

Overall I hate them both, Star Wars in my view had one decent entry in six total films...though it did have a bunch of great video games...

Trek, on the other hand, is tedious to watch, has the most obnoxious fans of any media, and is overall terrible.

I wil say this: Had star wars return of the jedi been directed by Lynch, it would have been a significantly better film, and I would have likely enjoyed it.

Star Wars is so goofey and childish in places it ruins the immersion for me. I actually dislike the majority of the new films in particular.

Star Trek, can't stand Star Wars. The Abrams 'Trek' isn't Trek though, it's a farce that lacks the heart and spirit of Star Trek, it's little more than Star Wars with a very thin Trek coat and too much lens flare. I prefer science fiction to make me think, like Star Trek does. The mindless action focus and bad stories of Star Wars and the insulting Abrams farce 'Star 'Trek' Wars movie is too dim witted for my tastes. The next Abrams movie will likely be yet another pile of intellectually lacking nonsense for the impatient while lacking the heart and spirit of Star Trek as before, Disney should hire him to make their Star Wars movies, he loves Star Wars, hates Trek.
