I find males users that have female avatars disturbing. Maybe it's my own issues, but that's how I feel.
Ponderingly,

If you have to stare at a character's backside for 20+ hours, wouldn't you rather it be pleasant to look at?

I don't look at people's behinds I have manners,I stare at the back of their head:P
Well then why do you have a chick in your avatar? no offenseomerdvi have a chick in my avy because, well because i want it there :P. imo it shouldnt matter what kind of pic anyone has in there avy, avy's and sig's are a form to represent what the person likes. so in this case i like anime
ye theres no problem with that. i used played wow and i had a female avatar just coz it looked better to me and i liked the character more..but i do not like it when guys get female avatars especially in mmo's and misuse it to fool some ppl :Pkirk4ever
Yeah those guys in things like second life are a little wierd
Mines a chick; just got her for the goggles though. Some said it was a guy from Splinter Cell.. :P
And as far as guys choosing chicks... I do that. But I'm not sure why. I'm definitely not homosexual or pretend to be a lady.
I'm not sure if mine is female or alien.....as long as it bothers you I'm good with that8)nohabs
I wasn't going to say anything, but the first time I saw it blinked it scared the **** out of me .
Some people are just into this kind of stuff, like cross-dressers. For example, some Star Wars fan likes Darth Vader, so they cos-play and dress up like Darth Vader. Some dudes are so desperate in life for a taste of female that they fantasize being one. So there, thats' how it works for them.yian
That's probably the strangest explanation I've seen...

Somewhat contradictorally, I have no problems with this. I actually agree that looking at a female gaming avatar is sometimes more pleasant than playing as Conan or Master Chief. But your Gamespot avatar is an image you use to represent yourself to the community online. When a man elects to use a woman as an avatar, I find the choice a bit odd, is all.
I have no problems with it, I just think it unusual. I'm definitely not saying there is anything wrong with it.
