Yes, I'm talking about the new Retina MacBook Pro 15-inch.

2880x1800 resolution on a 15.4-inch display! How crazy is that? That is a step PC makers should have taken years ago, and once again, Apple demonstrates that it's ahead of the curve in terms of introducing new innovations into laptops.

I can't wait to go to the Apple Store on Wednesday to check out one of these for myself and hold it in my hand. Unfortunately, even with an education discount, it will still cost me $2134...

Once again, another Apple thread being made talking about how they're better than PCs. Don't remember the last time I've seen a thread made about how PCs are better. I guess we see what that says about MacFanbois.

If it is a step PC makers should have done years ago, and Macs are personal computers, why isn't Apple also at fault for waiting so long?

Hey now, they have "the most updated processors, fastest RAM," and have a neat cooling feature. I think that's WELL worth the extra $2000 that we'll most likely be paying for them (obvious sarcasm).

$2k for a laptop that still does the same things a $600 one does. And no one needs a resolution that high unless they are some uber gamer...and if that's the case you wouldn't buy a laptop, let alone a Mac.

Just another case of useless "improvements" so Apple can charge six times the retail price.

I got my ipad (3rd gen) for free, so price wasn't an issue.

But using it now, hell yeah its overpriced. But i still love it.

Can't wait to get siri from iOS6.

But their laptops, on the other hand, f**king suck for the price. Who actually buys those? Oh, wait.

Macs aren't personal computers because, you can't open them up yourself and deal with any problems yourself (or upgrade or do w/e to your computer, but I guess that deals more with desktops, rather than laptops). Though I'm sure the argument for that is, "Why would you want to? If you have any problems, you can just send it to Apple, for a nice fee of course." Lol.

That's not innovation, that's progress, they're two entirely different things. Innovation is inventing the jet engine. Progress is making a faster turboprop engine.

Then it makes me wonder why Apple doesn't associate their computers by being "PCs." Maybe because, you can't use it to it's full potential, like normal old PCs lol. But I guess they're just trying to be "unique."

I'll just wait a few months for everyone else to do the same thing for half the price. That's the beauty of Apple: they innovate, and everyone else makes it affordable and practical.

Yah, take out the innovate part, but add in the part where Apple will try and throw out a lawsuit against anyone who makes anything remotely the same as them.

That's a looooot of resolution for a 15 inch display. I feel like adding more pixels isn't even a noticeable improvement when the screen is that small and the resolution so big. It's cool but not worth the money.

As a windows user I'm glad Apple has done this. If they hadn't it would literally take years before PC manufacturers started to implement a screen like that, now they will be forced to implement it sooner. Apple helps push the entire PC industry forward.

I'm actually in the market for a new laptop. Could you point me in the direction of some $600 laptops with a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache, 8GB of RAM, a 720p webcam, 256GB of flash storage and 7 hours of battery life? Because seriously that would be great. I would love to get one for a second computer.

Its because Apple is the only company in the world that has dedicated hardware and software that go together in a single package. MS doesn't create their own PC's. Google is only starting to create their own Android devices via Motorola. etc.

Mac OS X features some pretty good scaling... So it won't look too small.

Less aliasing and it's very beneficial for photographers.
