new gamespot is not bad as some users say

Ummm over six months passed after new gamespot change, many left GS saying new gamespot interface is not for them. I say new gamespot is still same, you just need some time getting used to it ( You still have your favourite forums as OT or SW, can post on threads or post blogs, upload images, review or comment on games section ETC ). I just wish there is more traffic , those who left returns or more new users on forums ( which has degraded as many old users left ). Personally I'm comfortable with new gamespot inspite what others say.

Whats your opinion on new gamespot after six months OT ? I hope all of you current users are quite comfortable with new gamespot ?

The new Gamespot sucks major ass, end of story.

It is as bad as we say and it isn't the same. For once we don't have the incredible useful feature which shows how many new post have been submitted since you last read the thread and then takes you right to the first new post. The forums are dying and I'm not shedding a tear. Incompetence should not be rewarded.

I disagree. I hate the notifications system. I'd rather have the threads marked that I posted in. Wasn't that hard to find out if someone replied. Also I despise the new stacks. I liked putting all my games in the library. Sucks major ass now.

And lets not talk about all my game ratings having disappeared. Mamaluks.

The only things that "bother" me is the loading times and the stacks system...other than that, meh...

Also not going to the first new post in a thread but ending up at the end of the thread and having to search. And why not make an automatic quote chain cut off? Other sites do it. Hate getting notifications for a post that isn't part of the discussion anymore. Hate editing the quote only to have GS eat it and have to start over.

@LJS9502_basic: Yeah, it sucks but you don't have to start over, just do ctrl+z.

The stacks are fucking atrocious. They are, without a doubt in my mind, the worst thing about these new forums. Their was, quite literally, nothing wrong with the collection pages. They were, for lack of a better term, essentially perfect. I loved them. Then stacks happened, and baby jesus cried. Whoever came up with stacks needs to be unemployed, now.

Not a fan of getting gamespot notifications in my real life email inbox.

yup.. this is a biggie feature-wise that is really lacking.the old icon notification system was much better.

It's not a nice solution but it's better than trying to delete a quote pyramid and after 7 comments everything disappearing on you =)

Yep, I quite enjoyed the old system...even went to the extreme of going through the list of games of all consoles I had and add every game I own/owned and giving scores to all of those 450+ games.

New system kicks in, most of my scores disappeared, there's no easy way to actually going through the list without pressing "next page" about 20 times until it actually does it (and waiting for half a minute between each try while it tries to decide whether it wants to load or not)...haven't added a game since...it'll add duplicates if you already have it and it takes more time than it's worth to check if you already have the game there since it seems unable to properly order the games by name...

@indzman: Oh man, you are totally wrong, this site has nothing to do with Gamespot, they killed GS's unique identity and the site never looked so lifeless so empty! all my friends has left the site and we all moved on to either IGN or Gameinformer , and since me and the other top active users has joined the force there, the traffic jumped up and we're having such a great time there now, CBS never cared for it's members or even its employees. i miss my old GS (not this soulless one )and every time i visit here to check on PM's i feel good even more ( about leaving i mean ) i finally had the courage to to leave and move on and GI started to fell like home to us now. keeping our same ID's and Avy's kinda helped too XD

the thing is that you're always more into the OT forums Indz we cared more about blogs and Fuse, but look around you man, blogs barely has any comments and and there are barley like few bloggers left, GS is dead man. Gamespot is a Wii U now still a good looking console that no one cares about.

Eh look on the bright side, last time they re-designed the site (2006 I think) the whole thing was down for weeks while they updated and it was very buggy for months (or even over a year) afterward. There were major outages lasting days at a time and it was barely usable during that period. This time they just did a quick transition overnight and the end result is mostly usable with few major bugs from the onset. There are things I don't like about the new design either (I find it a slower than before) but if the worst you have to complain about is stacks, then that's pretty good going. They've certainly done a much better job this time around.

GS need to bring back that magic technology spunk that limited the quote trees to 3 (or was it 4?) quotes. It's a real drag scrolling down a page sometimes, oh me and my first world problems.

Hm, one thing they could change might be how you can't make more than one post in a row sometimes. Or is it two?

Yea, 6 months and they still havent implemented key features that pretty much every other forum has.

knowing whether or not a thread you have read has new replies or not.

And being able to go to the first unread post in a thread.

The only answer we have really gotten about those things were "we will let them know your concerns". im paraphrasing of course, but that is essentially the only answer we have gotten regarding those key feature.

and also still havent seen an attempt to bring back Unions. which they said they would do, in the form of subforums.

We were also sposed to get a new leveling system. havent seen that either.

this place has turned to shit, honestly i only come here out of habit.

gs has no unique qualities anymore. couple that with aging and disappearing users and you get double the suck. I can only hope it gets better.

once you do something for so long, its hard to just stop cold turkey.

It's still asking me if I want to navigate away from a page every time I want to go away from a thread without posting in it.

10/10 would bash my face into the keyboard again.

I'm fine with it now, functionality wise, it looks better but as far as features go it's regressive, but when it wasn't working and nobody could come on and post anything, we lost a lot of good people, things aren't just what they used to be as far as the community of users go. Maybe it was the early and long endured glitchy nature of the new GS, or maybe it was the loss of unions, but people left, and they're not coming back.

While I don't think it's quite as bad as people say, I don't like some of the changes made to it. Such as stacks instead of collections and the lack of a leveling system like the old site had. It would also be nice if they could make the new site look a bit more like the old site.

It would be fine if the features that were implemented actually worked more than half the time.

Despite being adverse to the change at first, after getting used to it I actually prefer the new Gamespot when it works (which is rare). The worst part is that so many people left that all the communities here are empty and boring.

And the blogging community died down too.

User reviews and ratings are still screwed up and unorganized. No one blogs anymore. The Forums are okay, though.

Agreed. I've been here for years and it's gotten worse and worse, especially by putting horrible mods in place and annoying rules the masses are supposed to follow. Boo. The new reviewers aren't nearly as good as they were when I first got here and now this site sucks way worse than it did in the early and mid-2000s...
