I'm taking the term "obsolete" as meaning, "no longer relevant because something better has taken it's place." And with that in mind I respond with fossil fuels.

Segregated proms. This should have been done 50 years ago, but continues to this day, and not just in the South. It also seems a realistic achievement in our lifetime.
They pollute, people can get lazy and over-reliant on them, roads end up paving over a good deal of nature, there are tons of car accidents every year, people would have a shitload more money to spend if they didn't have to own a car, drive-throughs would die off. Â I think they'd still be useful for certain purposes, but I'd rather people actually use them for those purposes and find other ways to, say, get to work and back.

well, smoking is also not good for health, i dont like any of my family members smoking. Same here. It's also very hard for people to quit smoking. I think it should be illegal, imo, they're nothing, but a waste of money and bad health.
