Didn't see a thread on it, so here it is.  6 months we ago we defeated an amendment to define marriage as one man and one woman, now its going to be legal come August 1st.  Quite a turn around if you ask me.

There's a lot of butt hurt going on here though, although I'm glad to see it pass.

Illinois next?

Its pretty sad this is a news worthy thing and that only 12 states allow it. Was funny watching some state senators arguing about it yesterday though.

I can't wait till it's legalized on a federal level. Tennessee just might pop!

I'd laugh.

Good for them. Hopefully we'll see the USSC legalize it nationally, although I doubt that will happen.

I was watching the live feed during work yesterday. Some were really good, however half of the reps mentioned shit like Sodom and Gomorrah. Really can't take people seriously when they do stuff like that.

Based Minnesota. Now let's predict the next state to legalize it (assuming it unfortunately won't be legalized on a federal level)

Every opponent to it just brought up religion and/or think of the children. I just liked one of the last people Latz(?) who just destroyed all of the opponents talking points.

For the question of who is next: probably Illinois. Don't see any other state legalizing it anytime soon. Perhaps PA and NJ.

"The Bible is very clear on this issue," she told KSTP-TV this morning. "Homosexuality is a sin, and God will punish communities that support it.

"Sodom and Gomorrah thought they could defy the will of God, and we all know what happened to them. If the governor signs this legislation into law the Minneapolis-St. Paul region will be next.

"I have a friend from Eden Prairie who's already packed everything she owns into her car and is driving out to Montana as we speak. These are very scary times. I don't want my family to be the last ones out."

"I don't know what it will be, Bruce," she said. "It could be an earthquake. It could be a volcano. It could be some sort of flesh eating virus. All I know is that God does not let homosexuality go unpunished, and Minneapolis is next in line for his wrath.

"It breaks my heart to think that the Democrats are willing to play politics with the lives of so many Minnesotans. And I hate to leave so many of my constituents behind, but I urge them - please, please - follow my example and get your loved ones to safety before it's too late."

I hope it doesn't, as DOMA really needs to be removed from law. If it doesn't pave the way for full marriage throughout the US regardless of state, the couples legally married in states like NY should be federally recognized as straight couples are.

It will be an uphill battle, unless the Supreme Court declares same-sex marriage is covered under the 14th Amendment and cannot be outlawed.

I think it's better they were determined to legalize gay marriage on their own and not wait for the Supreme Court, even if the Supreme Court rules in favor of gay marriage in the end. It's better that Minnesotans can say to their religious bigots where they stand.

Pffft, outlawing everything just because of some supposed "rules" made up by some type of imaginary friend, yeah right, that's just asinine.
