Metal and why it's a bad genre

Metal is a loved genre among millions of people. But is it really that good? Well, the simple answer here is no. It's not. Every genre and sub-sub-sub-sub genre (yeah they're that pretentious they have that many genres) may sound different, but inside those genres all the bands sounds almost exactly the same. Dealing with the same riffs, lyrics and vocal styles.

Take Death Metal for example. It's just some really low riffs and some deep growls with lyrics about death and killing people. No band has ever changed this structure in all the years it has existed. Metal has no innovation.

Black metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, etc all suffer from this same problem. Discuss on whether you agree or disagree with me.

Again, let me make it clear I'm not saying all metal sounds the same, I'm saying all metal in their respective sub genres sound the same.

Let it be noted that I don't hate metal. I find a few select bands to be okay. I classify it as real music and I respect everyones opinion.

the bands you posted are garbache and their is way more crap bands in "metal" than good, but there are also bands that are just amazin.

So i really dont you can clasify "metal" like this.

every band you posted would be considered dark metal or death metal. that is way difft, than every other sub-genre of metal.

Metal uses more power chords than let's say for example, classical music. So it makes it different. Does that make it bad? No, it sounds better that way through Marshall amps to metal fans.

I agree. Metal music does not expand its boundaries, which indicates a lack of creativity - and we all know that most important ingredient in any kind of art. Its appeal merely lies in the supposed masculinity of the music.

couldn't agree more Megadeth is one of my all time fav bands, and dream theater is just amazing.

DUDE iron maiden is world-wide known band that have been around forever and still are amazing and making music and not to mention they have 3 guitarists and there all amazing and they make it work, which is extremely impressive.

After listening to all those songs you posted, I totally agree. That was the worst excuse for music I've ever heard. Every song was exactly the same. It's amazing how people think it takes talent to pound on their guitars and scream into the mic. :|Guppy507
