Yeah they are just the early prototypes for people who are eager to try them out. That's why they aren't really trying to sell them as much as just show people the tech and let intrested people purchase. 

Even so...once they eventually get down to a more reasonable price (let's say a few hundred dollars) I still don't see them selling very well.

Then again I also thought the iPad would flop so what do I know
