Conan (blueray)

Had the dvd for a while but decided to take a dip for the commentary. Much like Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't seem to grasp the point of it, describing every scene as if you were blind. John Milius gives some interesting factoids, shit like the swords they were using, were real swords with weight to them and Sanddahl Bergman almost lost three finger in a scene.

The quality was much better as well, the DVD version I had sucked, one of my favorite scenes, which had a horizon line of riders in the distance set against a 45 degree mound/spear - in the DVD you can barely see that shit, they are blobs.

Kidnapping Mr Heineken

It was as if the team behind the movie took a huge dump on the cameras by the second half.

You're the better person, Daemon. I need quality that isn't complete shit and (preferably) on my tv.

Thanks for that site, by the way. Have a ton of backlog titles now.

Mad Max Fury Road. 10/10.. the hype is real. I hope this movie does good at the box office, it would be a shame to not get a sequel like what happened with Dredd

Big Hero 6. The story isn't anything special, but they did an excellent job making me connect with the characters.

@sammyjenkis898: Hmmmm...I'm pretty sure life has demonstrated that I am clearly NOT the better person at anything so I can't agree with you there...but the thought is appreciated.

Though I suppose I am very good at putting up with very shoddy copies of films -- something of a necessity considering the rarity of silent films and the at times very obscure, independent cult films that I traffick in that only exist because some guy found a copy of a VHS tape in Turkey or Greece -- there honestly are some very top quality films on YouTube in terms of resolution. There are even official studios and cultural groups that have their own channels such as the Studio Filmowe KADR which have some very awesome classic Polish films that they produced and KoreanFilm who concentrate on older classic Korean films...an often overlooked part of their culture as most folks tend to want their more modern cinema offerings.

Not that you probably need more things to clog up your mental queue...but I live to torment. :)

Ex Machina

It was really good, even if the ending gave me some mixed feelings. I really recommend it if you like sci-fi.

Project Almanac. If it wasn't the worst time travelling movie I have ever seen it's close. The movie doesn't even respect its own rules. You know it's bad when they interfere with their own past and say stuff like "This didn't happen me back then because this is the first time I'm traveling to the past"...and you can't even excuse that on timeline branches because the movie starts by letting you know that that's not the case...

Should have trusted my gut and turned the movie off as soon as I saw "MTV films"...

Mad Max: Fury Road - 5/10

The most overrated movie I've seen in years. It felt less like a movie, and more like a non-interactive video game, with a shallow story, paper-thin characters, and repetitive action sequences. The action scenes were pretty good, initially, but there were just so many of them, and they were so repetitive, that they eventually just got boring. Not my cup of tea.

Poltergeist (2015)

It wasn't very good. If you've seen the original then there is pretty much no point in seeing this, because it obviously follows the same story, but it's just not as good. At least they weren't screaming for Carol Anne the whole time, though.

I liked it as it felt it was similar to Bioshock Infinite. Alot of Disney easter eggs in this movie though it felt like an advertisement for Disney World. 7/10.

6/10, I've never seen it but after seeing Fast 6 and just recently Furious 7. I knew I had to see this as it explains Fast 6. Pretty terrible acting, but I liked the Japanese atmosphere which felt nice compared to the previous two movies.

Avengers: Age of Ultron- 8/10. Much better than the first movie, ultron was a fun villain though it did have some pacing issues.

Mad Max: Fury Road- 10/10. 2 hours of pure action, violence and splosions. Whats not to love.

Edge of Tomorrow 9/10: Saw it again on Netflix and for me, it was a surprisingly good movie when it first came out. Great amount of action and carnage, decent amount of humor, and the aliens really did feel like they were out of this world.

X: Files I Want to Believe

An alright movie, not terrible, but the first one (1998) was way better, utilizing mythology from the series at that time and progressing it. It felt like the X-files, but bigger.

By comparison, this movie feels much more constricted with a monster of the week style plotline. Many monster of the week Xfiles episodes have been considerably better, and probably would have made better movie materiel.

The main problem is that it is longer than it needs to be, with a story suppose to be about "faith" regarding some child nobody gives a shit about getting an operation. It's almost like a set prop with a painted. Disappointingly, while the series and the last movie had a lot of greed creepy scenes, this has very little. You see a guy with his head attached to another body, and his head operating on it's own without a body (which can be done IRL btw), but it's so briefly shown without build up.

It was great when Skinner showed up, I internally cheered "yay Skinner!", because Skinner was the man, other than that, it's a so-so film.

Wouldn't mind more xfiles movies, the 6 part upcoming series should hopefully be good, leading on to more.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Very 1970's feel, possibly because it's set in the 1970's, who knows.
