Saw Scream 6. Yea the franchise has run its course lol.
Tombstone, 8/10
Really great cast and the movie was fun to watch. I never seen the whole movie before and enjoy it. Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Michael Biehn, Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton, Thomas Haden Church just what an amazing cast.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - He could have banged Michelle Yeoh, you're right, you did waste your life, silly twat.
Togo - Unapologetically a dogo movie the whole "based of a true story", might as well be Starwars, but entertainment? Yea, good time.
Pacific Heights - Not very good thriller elevated by Michael Keaton. Melanie Griffith sounds like a monotone robot.
Unlawful Entry (1992) - Similar thriller as above, though much better. Kurt Russell, Madeleine Stowe and Ray Liotta are all great.
Only thing didn't like was the ending. Like Pacific Height, just super predicable, invade home, crappy little climax fight where they juggle around the home for abit. Zzz
Night of the Comet - Extremely 80s. Style of over-substance, logic out the window.
Has Chakotay Star Trek Voyager in it.

I own this one. Guilty pleasure.
1st watch. Looking forward to watching it again.
Damn... No one's watching movies in here? :(
Never really appreciated this fight until now, pretty dope.
I love that outside big war going on but inside it's completely silent with static sound. And the only time in the movie Oddjob actually looked worried is when he grabs his hat.
watched the old Heathers movie on Tubi last night. still got a bunch of movies on my list to watch on Tubi starting in June
Robot Jox, Goddess of Love, Liam Neeson's Rob Roy, Space Raiders, Doomed! the documentary thats about Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie
A movie called 'Boss Level' starring Frank Grillo and Mel Gibson.
It's similar to the Tom Cruise movie 'Edge of Tomorrow' where a guy repeats the same day over and over until he figures out how to save the world. But it's more comedic than that and some parts are genuinely funny. The cast is all pretty solid too. I can't say it's the greatest movie or the most unique, but for what it is I did find it to be pretty entertaining.
Bride of Re-Animator - Disappointing. Has all the same cast and crew back, some cool effects. But it's mostly boring and all over the place.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - 9/10
One of the best superhero movies I've ever seen! It's now one of my top three superhero movies of all time, along with Into the Spider-Verse and Avengers: Endgame. Across the Spider-Verse excels in everything from the story and writing to the action and animation. I can see some influences from the '90s Spider-Man cartoon, a few anime (Steins Gate and Shonen Jump shows), and Loki (the best MCU show). Looking forward to the next Spider-Verse movie!
On a side note, Sony's Spider-Verse makes the MCU (post-Endgame) look like a joke in comparison. Spider-Verse has done a way better job of handling the multiverse theme than the MCU has done so far, with the exception of Loki (and No Way Home, but I'd consider that more Spider-Verse territory rather than MCU territory).
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) - Prefer KOTM to this. Found this to be abit of a slog at times. Julian Dennisons character is insanely annoying.
watched dune (2021). first time experiencing the world of dune.
heard the lynch adaptation from the 80s was deeply flawed and that others have described it as a book that simply cannot be converted to the big screen. knew only the scantiest of details prior - a power struggle for control of spice - the universe's most valuable substance - on an inhospitable desert planet with indigenous rebellious tribes ruled with an iron fist. and giant sand worms.
tl;dr - i thought it was really, really good.
star studded cast, some fascinating characters, powerfully scripted, impeccably acted, and a game of thrones-like theme in that no one is safe, no matter how big a star / role. it was long, two and a half hours, and considerable portions early on devoted to world and lore building as to be expected, but the pacing was just about right and it never lingered for too long. then the second half completely flipped the first half on its head and dialled the pacing right up to edge of the seat levels.
lots of thought provoking themes beyond the standard good vs evil / chosen one undercurrent provided depth which no doubt reflect the book, but were delivered in a way that weren't overly complex and accessible to the layman, and left me with lots to think about once it was over.
tonally it was dark, disturbing, ominous, and perpetually threatening, and without jason mamoa's warrior character duncan idaho wouldn't have had a single joyful person, yet its unrelenting devotion to its foreboding and serious theme gave the whole thing real gravitas, emotion and authenticity. any comic relief would have felt completely out of place.
the visual themes, the broody and mournful hans zimmer soundtrack, the stunning locations, costume design and battle scenes and the portrayal of the desert as a beautiful but deadly place were fantastically done. and tantalisingly we never got to see the evil emperor behind it all pulling the strings. a welcomed high quality sci-fi surprise after suffering through disney churn out so much star wars tripe in recent years. looking forward to part two. great way to end to set up for the finale and sequel, and roll on november, i'll be watching in the cinema this time
@uninspiredcup: I stopped watching the anime after Dragon Ball Z but that movie has been in my sights for a while now. Super Hero as well. I hear it's not as good but I'm ready for some Gohan action.
its good, New broly movie shined more, but gohan and piccolo go off in super hero.
Both are worth it
@johnd13: Super series is extreamly hit and miss. The animation for the first 2/4 or so is quite terrible. And it's not for lack of talent but rather a rushed production. The story telling and pacing is quite poor as well.
It tends to get better at the tail end. But it's not remotely close to the quality of OG DB (which really doesn't get the credit it deserves in the West) or Z.
Worth maybe watching once, thinking of it as flawed fan fiction.
Worth noting as well, both DB/Z follow the Manga almost 1/1 with filler. Super is massively different from the Manga.
-
But yea, as my take is similar to Sarge. Dragonball Super: Super Hero (terrible title) is closer in tone first half to OG Dragonball, that's the part I like. Then it turns into the a certain again recycling beats. Zzz
I wish the entire movie as a slice of life Pic/Pan movie. But gotta please the Z fans.
-
Broly on the other hand, wholly feels like Z quality. The story itself is directly related and lifts multiple aspects from Z, not just the manga but the non-canon movies, alters and improves them. Namely Broly, who is garbage in the OG movies.
Entire thing is essentially one large fight, but it remembers to have story and context to make you care about what's going on.
Papillon - One fav movies
1973 of course.
Oh yea, forgot they pointlessly remade that.
Never watched it. Never will.
2012 - Out the gate, it didn't age well (it was a product of the fearmongering of that year), and all that film amounts to is "throw whatever 2012 apocalypse conspiracy theory at John Cusack".
2/10
