One of those things that I didn't see coming, but kinda makes sense looking back. Good on him. Hope all goes well with family, friends, career and otherwise.

Recently had a friend come out like this, and was happy to hear their redneck, Trump voter family (her words, not mine) were all very supportive. Gave me a little more faith in humanity.

She's been a lesbian and looking more like a guy for a few years now, so it makes sense. Whatever makes her/him happy, I can live with that.

I will not lie and say that seeing a fairly attractive female suddenly identify herself as a male doesn't bother me. But at the end of the day, it doesn't have any affect on my life. So, whatever floats his/her boat,, I guess?

Happy that news like this is not as newsworthy as it used to be, and people are just sort of like "meh" (myself included). It means it is becoming more accepted and less, I don't know...scandalous, I guess?

I'm actually more concerned about the LGBTQ community thinking that Elliot Page being trans suddenly makes him a spokesperson for all trans people lol. Reminds me of the South Park episode where Token is like "Jesse Jackson is not the king of black people!" when one of his friends is like "Jesse Jackson said it was OK!"

I mean, good for them I guess ,they have another trans champion to look up to. But they're making a lot of assumptions about him I Feel like. Then again, he is an actor and probably likes the publicity so maybe it's OK.

I knew she was gay but this took me by surprise. When someone says trans I always have this idea of a manly looking woman that you could easily mistake for a man (think Amelie Mauresmo) having the surgery and changing her name. But Ellen Page? She's as cute as a girl can be. Makes me wonder how she will fare with the chicks looking so childish hehe.

I've read that it is considered rude to mention the transgendered person's former name and to make any mention of the pronoun related to the person former's gender (including "he/she" or "him/her"). It's good that his announcement brings to light these etiquette topics as well.

@one_plum: It might be rude, but there's also reality and in that case she's still female, and all her past and current roles she's female.

She can say whatever she wants, who cares.
