IS it just me or is Gamespot Getting Boring?

I used to check Gamespot first every morning because of the great lineup of weekly shows and the great staff. Now I come in the morning and there is hardly any original content and all the sweet shows are gone...

Whats going on guys?? Does anyone else feel the same way?

I think the forums have gotten really boring. When it was mildly regulated in the early 2000s, it had me coming back. Then they started banning a lot of people and clean shop. Forum activity is slow and dull now.

I know their Youtube channel is pretty dead nowadays.

The site has always been boring, the forum has spells with a few decent threads followed by spells of not much

Only ever been following the forum. And it's been boring for a few years now.

Their video player is such absolute sh*t I'm surprised you never tried to find out if you can just watch their stuff on YT. It's the only watchable option in my opinion...

It's getting boring, and though it's a mostly unrelated subject, they should never have changed the site layout.

I don't think Gamespot from 01-07 will be topped that period was the best at least for me.

TBH I never watch any videos, I just read the news articles about games. The most I'll watch is the e3 coverage, and Gamescom, but besides that I never watch anything.

Yeah i agree.

Gaming sites are only as strong as their community. They really ran the site to the ground with many poor decisions and zero backtracking.

Yep it's pretty boring. Most of the staff I liked has departed and they've stopped airing any interesting shows. Usually I just browse the homepage for any news and then head to the forums. But that entails often a simple browse as well since new interesting threads are few and far between. I used to wake up and immediately head to Gamespot to receive any replies I might had on various discussions. That is not the case anymore...

You can use Giant Bomb for shows. Gematsu has articles for games.

The forums have gotten boring for me.

Been annoying me for a while now. Ever since they decided they wanted to be pop-culture-everyman site the quality had lowered and lowered.

There's still occasionally good stuff, but all these top 10, everything you need to know, red arrow point at thing homeless man with cup (hu hu) please god give me clicks, it's just crap and in the long term puts you off it.

Mainly just stick around for the forums now because I wuv you guyz.

No, the site really wouldn't have been any better without the redesign, admittedly it needed that.

Fact of the matter is people left the site, or found more worthwhile things to do with their lives.

The loss of emphasis on blogs and user communities sucked when it happened, and ever since there's really not as much of a voice for users on the site. Aside from maybe, comments. But you know what? Boo-hoo.

You all still come here, I still come here... Gamespot ain't dead yet. And yes, it probably will eventually shut down one day, inevitably... But then you'll all probably complain that GS is gone lol.

Not saying this place has gotten boring, it's the good Gamespot Users that has left made it boring around here and the good one's like Charizard1605 who is the champion of System Wars left GS and that place got really boring so fast, it's not even funny. It's the good users who made GS boring.

One thing I'd wish they'd stop doing is bumping their news articles with edits, because most times, I see yesterday's news as today's news. It's irritating.

Yup...they should revive the social credit system...encourage people to come back.

The forums used to be more fun. Seems there's too much censorship in the off topic/politics sections. I think some mods/people in charge at gamespot are super duper sjws, trying too hard to make the forums "clean."

I enjoy spirited debate. I remember I teased that it's funny people are sexually aroused by Anime, and how there's a market for Anime porn. I was banned for a week...I'm surprised I came back at all, actually. I think foot fetishes are funny too. And lot's of us have seen that guy banging a chain link fence/car exhaust. Some things are funny. I didn't personally attack anybody.

Anywhos...there seems to be too much sensitivity for these forums anymore.

Outside of those areas, system wars used to be fun, but then people realized pc gaming is the shiznit.

Gamespot has been dying a slow death for a very long time.

1. Never liked the site redesign. It needed a facelift at best.

2. Never liked the change to the forums (levels are gone). The individual game forums have essentially died.

3. The mass exodus of the original Gamespot staff.

4. The replacement staff over time has been, meh.

5. The original content lacks.

6. I hate the IGN approach to things.

But, I've been around for a long time in any event.
