No, his last two films were rather underwhelming(Inception & TDKR).
Good, with great parts, but flawed in the whole picture.

Sofia Coppola is trash. One good film that isn't even that good. interesting actually she's great. two great films, one very good one, one merely good one, and one I haven't seen[QUOTE="WolfattheDoor34"]you're interested in the wrong CoppolaAljosa23

are you still enamored with SKYFALLIve never really been asked to do [big tentpole blockbusters]. You look at what Christopher Nolan did with Batman, thats like the meeting of the highest level of artistic skill & a kind of commerciality and appeal to a wide range of people which is what anybody would want. Its kind of unparalleled actually, and they dont come to me with those. And thats alright.
-Paul Thomas Anderson
Wonder what movies you like then..HAHAHAHAHA Nolan?
Let's see...
Batman reboot = garbage (then again that was helped by having the worst Joker performance ever in the second one)
Inception = A big waste of time that stole from other better movies and pieced them together poorly
Superman = Even worse than the Batman reboot
Nolan makes crap and while he's had a hand in some good films the movies where he has most control are the worst in the bunch.

[QUOTE="Crunchy_Nuts"]In my opinion Michael Bay is one of the best directors. He's good at creating a meaningful story with interesting characters. I think a lot of people like to hate on him though just because his movies are really popular.AvatarMan96You're a little late, April Fool's Day was two months ago. Michael Bay's films are good for turning your brain off and enjoying the visual effects, that's all. Michael Bay doesn't do subtlety, and neither do I.
No. Not even remotely the best. Currently the best director is Mike Leigh.
If I had to pick someone who made pop culture films, I'd pick someone who does that while still remaining original and breathtaking... like Quentin Tarantino.

Are you trying to imply that Inception wasn't original?

"There are bits of Inception that people are going to think I ripped that straight out of 'Last Year at Marienbad.' Basically, what it means is, I'm ripping off the movies that ripped off Last Year at Marienbad, without having seen the original. It's that much a source of ideas, really, about the relationships between dream and memory and so forth, which is very much what 'Inception' deals with. But we have way more explosions." - Nolan

My thoughts exactly. Lost in Translation was dull.

lulz[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]No. Almost all his movies are just supposed to be fun with no story line. The iconic summer time movie. Thats what he makes.I fail to see how that makes him awful. The same man that made Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind can't be awful in any stretch of the imagination. Spielberg's made films in every genre by now and most of them are excellent.[QUOTE="Wolfetan"]
Spielberg is an awful director.Â

WTF?
AI, Minority Report, Schindler's List, Close Encounters, Munich, Raiders, ET, Jaws, Catch me if you can, the list goes on, the man is a genius. Raiders is one of the best action-adventure movies of all time, it's much more than a fun movie with no story line.

Even though he only has two features under his belt, Steve McQueen is already one of the top directors in film and has a bright future.
