I'm 19, She's 14

It's not so much how many years are between them, as much as it is the age they are now. He is 19, which is over 18 (ADULT), she is 14 (MINOR). So if anyone found out you could be put in jail for being a pedophile (or is that a different offense?). Better off finding someone else as I doubt you could wait 4 years, and by then you're sure to find someone more suitable who is your age. Not to mention it gets worse as you both get older. 2 years from now you are 21 she is 16. You're screwed if you get found out and someone tells.

Though I'm not exactly clear on the laws. Can you only be put in jail if its sexual? Though a judge may see it a different way and lock you up no matter what you say.

I'm going to echo the voices of most of the other users in this thread and I'm going to recommend an abort mission here.

Even though you've repeatedly claimed that there's not going to be any sex, do you really expect other people (especially her father and perhaps law enforcement) to believe that? I mean really? Besides violation of age rule, the costs clearly outweigh the benefit.

5 years isn't a big deal. It doesn't matter if she was 9 when he was 14, because she's not 9, and he's not 14. So keep it secret. If you can wait that long. Not the biggest age gap I have seen. My grandpa was 21 when he married my grandma who was 12. They had there first kid 2 years later. But that was back in the olden days.

Just remember to keep the trouser snake caged and everything wil be fine. As for the old man its rather easy to avoid that. My sisters boyfriend has never met my parents. So I know its possible.

Indeed. Dating a 14 year old at 19 is only 'wrong' today because of changing societal norms. It was VERY common for young women to be married to much older men in the olden days. Just to be clear, though... I still think that any romantic relationship in the early teens will find itself in choppy waters. So there IS good reason to believe that it is not in the best interests of a 14 year old to be dating a 20 year old. I just don't see it as the impossible situation that so many do... and I most certainly don't see it as pedophilia. That's just silly, especially if there really isn't any sex involved.

5 years is definitely a small gap in the greater scheme of things, but when those 5 years are as crucial to maturity as these are, I'd say it's kind of a big deal.
