Happy to help! I'll start with some bands that are easy to get into and then list some that aren't as easy to get into (includes death/black metal). Sorry if the list is too much, I bolded the ones I think you should definitely check out!
Easier: Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Edenbridge, Nevermore, Draconian, Metallica, Dark Angel, Coroner, Heathen, Destruction, Onslaught, Vio-Lence, Death Angel, Candlemass, Storm, Isengard, Blind Guardian, Falconer, Iced Earth, Symphony X, Kamelot
Harder: Incantation, Death, Amon Amarth, Nile, Decapitated, Adramelech, Benediction, Immolation, Morbid Angel, Possessed, Obituary, Autopsy, Hail of Bullets, Bolt Thrower, Hypocrisy, Suffocation, Kreator, Bathory, Burzum, Emperor, Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Immortal, Hades, Mayhem, Wyrd

Will do.These are the best albums I know:
Death - Symbolic.
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness.
Carcass - Heartwork.
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains.
Bathory - Hammerheart.
Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream.
Heathen - Victims of Deception.
Metal Church - Metal Church.
Venom - Prime Evil.
[QUOTE="araksik"]>Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness.on.TheArGaiaCovenant is a lot better I think. Still, a solid list.
I think Altars of Madness is quite unique, which is why I fell in love with the album. Covenant is fantastic, but I think the sound is a lot more generic than AoM, which makes it less interesting, imo :)
If you listened to Fear Factory go buy their album demanufacture. That is one of their most solid albums to date, and one of the oldest. Also, if you really want to step it up, I m you check out the Folk Metal scene.
Ensiferum is an awesome band if you want to check that out.
Metal is loser music. Don't go that way man. Turn away.

I'm no metal head but just out of curiosity, what is "winner music" in your opinion?

I've been listening to 'Slipknot' for about a year now, and I feel as-if I need to move on(Ha-ha). I have been listening to a little of 'Fear Factory', 'Job For A Cowboy', and some 'hardcore' music ('A Day To Remember') - Am I missing anything ?
XxxExtremeNJBXx
Start with Death's first album, Scream Bloody Gore and their second album Leprosy, best way to get into Death Metal.
Also give Black Sabbath a chance too :)
For more "hardcore" (blargh I hate saying that). There is Black Metal, like Immortal, Burzum, Emperor. Death Metal like, Death, Morbid Angel, Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed.
Then you have Thrash Metal, Megadeth, Sodom, old Metallica.
Oh, and Opeth are pretty awesome too.
Give Chimaira a listen.I've been listening to 'Slipknot' for about a year now, and I feel as-if I need to move on(Ha-ha). I have been listening to a little of 'Fear Factory', 'Job For A Cowboy', and some 'hardcore' music ('A Day To Remember') - Am I missing anything ?

I recommend Suffocation, Burzum, Inquisition, Suffocation, and The Ruins of Beverast.
Oh yea, and be sure to check out Suffocation.

In Flames
Killswitch Engage
Horse the Band

If any of those are up your alley let me know and i can list some more.
EDIT: PS unlike most folks im not trying to steer you to a different type of metal... but more trying to match what you already like.
suffocation owns thanks man :DI recommend Suffocation, Burzum, Inquisition, Suffocation, and The Ruins of Beverast.
Oh yea, and be sure to check out Suffocation.
