This makes sense to me. I mean everywhere around you there is mathematic formulas that dictate how the universe works. You have things in nature that can't be explained such as the golden ratio and fractals. I believe our universe is a computer simulation, which may be running inside another simulation, etc.

Sounds silly to me but then a lot of people believe the universe was created by some sentient being. It's no more stupid than believing that I suppose.

Maybe the universe is simply a classroom experiment to a more advanced race, they could be sitting in a classroom right now hacking away at a quantum computer saying how their universe is bigger than their buddy's at the next computer.

If the universe is a computer simulation, how come it doesn't hiccup or lag? Why hasn't it restarted? And why not shut it off and start again when people start to think it is just a computer simulation?

maybe their computer is so powerful it can handle as much data as is in our universe. things like glitches may exist, which could be things such as black holes and paranormal things. or maybe we just don't know enough about those things yet. And why would it matter if we found out? maybe that would make things more interesting for our observors

Is it possible that a computer could ever exist that could handle all the data in our universe? I don't know if that technology would be feasible at all. Black holes have a scientific explanation and paranormal activity is usually debunked. Why would it matter if we found out? Would you act different knowing a camera is on you 24\7?

Our computational capacity is expanding at astronomical rates, i dont see why this would be impossible with future technology. And yea if black holes and everything can be explained, that still doesn't change anything. And no i wouldnt act different, because the simulation would just be a game to them in the first place. why would it matter?

This has always sounded stupid to me. Just think about it. What ever computer we're being run on has been turned on for like well over a trillion years and the question could then just be asked, what created our creators? Also just be self-aware, do you feel alive? I sure do. I can guarantee no computer controlled AI you've killed in any game feels like that.

It seems more likely to me that we created our simulated universes based upon the laws which dictate our own.

While I would love to create a computer generated world based on non-euclidean geometry and such, I wouldn't really know where to begin drawing inspiration outside of vague, unrealized concepts and descriptions.

To be fair, time is relative. If I run the old Mixed Up Mother Goose on my old Pentium 4 it runs so fast that it's uncontrollable. And lack of self awareness is merely a software limitation that we've yet to overcome.

time is relative. just because our universe has experienced trillions of years does not mean that the simulators have as well. Who is to say you can't program a conscious?

How are we aware that its actually trillions of years? Couldn't the way we feel about time be programmed as well? Though this belief seems kind of weird he has a point.

We, as a species, evolved from the last survivors of an ancient civilization on Mars. This civilization started messing around with stuff they shouldn't have and they opened a portal to another dimension, which was actually hell itself. Hell invaded Mars and pushed this civilization to the brink. The last few of them created the Soul Cube, which was wielded by their mightiest warrior, to defeat Hell's mightiest warrior. After the invasion from hell was pushed back, the few survivors locked up the portal and other artifacts so that future species would not make the same mistake they did. Then they fled to Earth and here we are, digging up their mistakes on Mars in the year 2145 and unleashing yet another invasion from hell. That's Doom, btw. Lol.

The brain itself is a organic computer. The creator(s) gave it to us and every other extraterrestrial in our universe, so that we can one day find a way to break out of the universe (or simulation). This can explain why space is so vast and why this goal is almost impossible. Our objective as humans is to keep reproducing and our technology to get better, so that we can finally meet our makers.

Keep in mind that when we die, nothing happens. It's exactly like before we were born: darkness. Which is merely the cyberspace of all cyberspaces. When one day our future generations somehow break out of this simulation (Which can take millions or billions of years), everyone becomes reborn. What this means I cannot say, and every question that mankind ever asked will be answered.

Stuff like the Dark ages, wars, religion, and even kittens had and will continue to forever prolong this journey. I truly hope we don't wipe ourselves out, or else we would have to rely on another alien species to end this tyranny.

I don't even debate about things like this. "Nothing exists, we are (insert some obscure reasoning to support stupid reasoning here).

Why bother? I think everything comes down to faith. Why do you get up in the morning? Something drives you forward, faith in something.

If we never even created computers this belief wouldn't even exist. It's just people getting hyperactive with their imaginations. Films like The Matrix helped it too.

Either way, who cares if we are or not? This is how things are going to be give or take. Maybe our creators programmed something nice for us in death which was never understandable while alive, which would technically be better than being the creators themselves as we're eternal and they may very well not be.
