Hello, I'm French and i live in Paris :)
Do you have any question?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Keep it in English guys.
So. Guess I have to be a bit more informal here. Roll call is for chatting. Other threads needs something to spark a discussion. This is the off topic section so no gaming related stuff here. Also political discussions has its own forum. For games I suggest either game discussions or system wars. Playstation, Nintendo, and Xbox has their own forums. PC/linux/Mac as well.
How popular are baguettes in France?
How many times have you been to the Eiffel tower?
How much water is in Paris and do you swim?
- French fries are really good :D! I love it in particular the ones from French Burger King
- Baguette are like the most famous bread type in France and also the cheaper bread. It's in my opinion the most cost-effective bread in France. Particularly tasty.
- I can see the eiffel tower from my window, However I've been only once when I was 10. It's not very attractive when you see it everyday... Did you know that they have built a 4 meters glass wall all around the eiffel tower wich can resist to weapons bullets in case of terrorist attacks? This wall is like really really ugly...
- By water do you mean rain? There's a lot of rain in Paris but that's not worst than in England D: Otherwise we have a river wich is called "La Seine" but you can't swim in it it's way too polluted. So if you want to swim there are public swimming pool. No I don't really enjoy swimming but I go to the swimming pool 4 times per year with my friends.
- I don't get it sorry :/ France is a country
People say that yes... I'm only 21 so it's difficult to know how it was before... They say that because of massive immigration from 2000. It's surely not like before but it doesn't bother me personally
@french_baguette: I actually didn't know about the glass wall. Very cool!
Do you play games in French or English?
Can you teach me French for free if I asked you to?
How many fingers am I holding up?
#16 by football, I guess you mean European football wich is soccer, Bayern of Munich is my favorite team but I'm not a big fan of soccer. I prefer Rugby or American football (new England Patriots <3 sorry guys :D) and ice hockey.
#17 Already answered that
#18 Jean Reno is a great actor, I also like Leonardo Di Caprio
#19 That's the government's fault wich welcome immigrants in France and Europe but don't do anything to find them jobs. They are here but they rarely allowed to work. Therefore they have no money and their districts become slums.
#50 I play games French and English :) Even if my English is not perfect I always try.
Sure I could teach you, that would be really interesting, send me your discord or something
4 fingers ?
No not at all, some French say that you are close minded to you're country because of your school educational system. But we find you very sympathetic and friendly. To me American people are more cool than French
I don't think so, the French woman team this year as change a lot. Players are now mainly new players. But I hope they will win :)
#29 Ooo my god don't talk me about brexit! I'm working for a big French multinational company and the brexit is just a major problem for some partnerships and contracts with UK and even some other projects. Yes the brexit is a terrible terrible terrible things according to French... It can't bring anything good... We will see how it'll be done but I am very worried for you... :/
#30 Yes I read that some weeks ago... No one care about thoses French words, you can't replace a word like "smartphone" by another stuff way longer wich will make you sound like a rich disconnected guy lol...
Thoses "French" names are created by a tiny part of the population wich wants to kick all English words from French language... That's totally ridiculous :)

Well you never know, home field advantage and all. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Les Bleues!
Have you ever been outside of France, like Scottland,Ireland,Turkey, etc …??
How do you/other people think of Quebec?
I've already travel a lot mainly in China, USA and Qatar. I did Scotland and Ireland :) but not Turkey and Quebec / Canada.
In France we found people from Quebec really funny, their accent are different from ours and they use awesome expressions! :D
-How are the yellow vest protests going along? I have read an article recently stating military police will be deployed against all future protests. Is that true?
-Have you noticed a change in culture because of the influx of immigrants? Do you ever feel worried about it?
@nattydaddy604: Very interesting questions!
- the yellow vest protests is getting worst every Saturday because some bad people go to this demonstrations just to brake, burn and steal everything. Last Saturday, the 16, the demonstration turn to a real disaster, half of the street "champs élysée" has been destroyed. Government said that it was the fault of some police chiefs that don't know how to act against such violent people. However If police kill a demonstrator by accident, it would be a real catastrophy. Policemans are tired because every Saturday is the same since last November. Mr Emmanuel macron the French president stay on his mind and the gilet jaune on there minds, the protests seems endless.
I'm personally not supporting the yellow vest protest... French demonstrate for everything and yellow vests are mainly guys without any diplomas protesting because they don't have enough money!? ...
And yes to answer your question French army will be massively deployed in Paris tomorrow. Demonstrations are now forbidden in Paris. Guess what yellow vests will do :)? They will protest in another big French city : Lille!
Saturday is a huge MMA brawl between police and "brakers" you must avoid Paris downtown this day.
Just another thing to finish with yellow vests, the number of demonstrators is always reduced by journalists to convince people that the protest is fading... In fact it's not :/
Wait and see!
- As I said some messages ago, I'm to young to notice a real difference between France before and now :/ However yes there are a lot of immigrants in France. They often live together in suburbs of Paris, they don't have money or diplomas and it often turn to drug deal or crimes. I'm a bit worried of the rise of violence. People are now killed almost every day because they "bad look" at somebody ! French people are scared by everything and when somebody is victim of something like an agression, no one around will say anything and this is something that shocked me a lot because in the US for instance you would have react!
Crimerate is increasing and justice penalties are too gentle... I think there's a real problem today with security in France but that's not because of the imigration but mostly education and poverty :(...
Nevertheless our crime rate is lower than the US one and you know because of what?
- Guns
Why are you guys so attached to amendment 2?

This local bit of history is often sited as an example of firearms giving people options to bring down a corrupt government: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_%281946%29
Not trusting authority is kind of our bread and butter.
@br0kenrabbit: thank you, I heard about this event before. There is a movie explaining it that I should watch

I don't know if there's a movie about it or what. The reason I know about it is because it's right down the road from me so it's part of local legend.
@french_baguette: Is Nintendo more popular than Sony and Microsoft? And why the hell did you vote for Macron, knowing he would screw your people royally with Taxes and screwing with the Rural Class of France!
No not at all, some French say that you are close minded to you're country because of your school educational system. But we find you very sympathetic and friendly. To me American people are more cool than French
I find this very interesting but nevertheless, thanks for the response :)
I maybe U.S citizen, but I personally don't agree what my Countryman thinks in terms of Politics.
@paula218: I don't know probably 4 months if you lived in france with only French people :). French is a pretty difficult language
#44. Yes in France Nintendo is more popular than Sony and then Microsoft. However Sony and Nintendo are pretty close at selling.
We had no choice :/... It was him or marine lepen wich is a French donald trump :(... In my opinion Macron is not such a bad president.
#45 Their noses are OK but nothing particularly wonderful, same as American nose. Our womens are more beautiful according to me :)
#46. We can't all agree, but I understand your point of view
