I live in Atlanta GA, AKA Hotlanta for that matter. The Temps can go as high as 95 degrees but rarely hits above 100. When it's 10:00am, all hell brakes lose, it get's hot very fast! So OT, does the heat really bother you to crank up the AC? Do you wait until the sun set's down to go outside? How are you handling this heat now that it's Summer?

Right now I'm at the beach next to the water. It's the best way, the correct way. :)

I hate anything over 75 degrees and feel like I'm being cooked in the bright sun when it's hot. I don't know how you guys down there do it.

Anything over 65 is horrible

But thank god for a car with AC, work with AC and home with AC...

I'm more natural to warm weather, I prefer summer time and I can't stand cold climates. I'm southern and I adapt to heat more so then cold weather.

I'd prefer slushy drinks which also helps keeps you cool then eating ice creams.

I don't go outside on a hot day. AC and good insulation are your friends.

@davillain-: Yeah you might not get over 100 F, but you have humidity in Georgia, yeah? I remember getting off a plan in Maryland in the summer with like 98% humidity....it was honestly one of the worst experiences in my life.

Where I'm at in California, we might get a week where it skirts 100 F, but damn at least it's dry you know? I don't know if I could do humidity.

Was 97 yesterday, today it is supposed to be mid-90's again. It doesn't help that at my place of work we have hot pipes and steam-powered vessels everywhere haha.

I don't. 42°C is too hot for me.

I'm good up to about 36 with 50% or less humidity. But 20-25 with 100% and I'm finding it hard to breathe. A/C is my religion in the summer.

Drinking water and staying hydrated mostly all the time, trust me it works every time. The heat does pinch but I never feel the urge to just stay at home and do work from home.

Here in Arizona, 100F to 115F is routine. I usually do exercise, yard work, and other outdoor activities at dawn until around 9 AM. After that, I spend most of my time indoors (or in an air-conditioned car). Once the shadows grow long (eg 5 PM), I venture outside again and stay outside until I'm done with whatever I was doing.

Our house has good insulation. If I keep the windows and curtains closed, we can maintain room temperature around 78F to 82F (while it's +100F outside) all day. A ceiling fan is more than enough to keep us comfy. But, we also have central air-conditioning if we want it to be cooler.

Should the central air-conditioner go KAPUT, I have a portable one for my den. ;)

@davillain-: I hate the heat but I deal with it. I was deployed to the Strait of Hormuz for 8 months and it got up to 135 F in July. The coolest it ever got was 100 F at midnight. The humidity was awful too and it just added to the misery.

If it gets that hot where I live in UK, I turn on the AC and stay indoors since I get hayfever. Taking hayfever tablets are great, but I get drowsy easily which don't help. This might sound dumb, but do you get hayfever in the USA? I never had hayfever when I visited China, Spain and France.

Last week Monday and Tuesday were really hot days for me. The AC stopped working so we had to get a portable AC. Those two days I slept downstairs instead of my bedroom. It was really hot and I always end up mildy night sweating. I have a fan by my side but it doesn't do much. But on Wednesday it got cooler. edit: Also , I live in Midwest so it wasn't normal.

Hop in my car, let all the windows down, put my sunroof to ventilation, and go cruising on the expressway with the wind on my face...

I will always take the summer heat over winters cold. So you will never see me complaining about how high temperatures get...

Hit triple digits in the Cali central valley this weekend. I fled to Oakland where it was 23 degrees cooler. Did some comic shopping and went out for a few beers with the wife. When we did come back home we decided it was too hot to cook so we went to our local BBQ place for dinner and more beers. Down to low 90's for the rest of the week but hitting triple digits again next weekend. Might head to Half Moon Bay or Santa Cruz to avoid that one.

For those living in the California inland areas, just head to the coast if you want to cool off. They have the perpetual stratus clouds (and fog) that keeps the weather cool, usually in the 50's F and 60's F.

I lived at the Central Coast for a few years. It was so cool and cloudy/foggy during summer, I had to travel inland to get some warmer weather and clear skies.

Yeah it looks to be warm in Russia too, do you think your national team will get anywhere this world cup? You arguably have the best domestic comp (EPL) but England seems to struggle at world cups.

we are the perennial under achievers in international football so decades of disappointment would say... probably not :)

but this year, with germany out and none of the traditional big hitters - argentina, brazil, spain, france etc. - really firing on all cylinders, if england were to continue the form they showed in the 6-1 against the mighty panama (and it's a big if) then... who knows.

tonight vs belgium will be a good barometer of where they're at and whether the post-panama giddyness is warranted
