I went to watch fireworks tonight, drink beer, check out the ladies, and all under a first time that I can remember heat warning.

It was... (let me convert this for you)... 95 when I left China. That was already too much for me, thanks. I spend my summers in England.

we are in the middle of a heatwave in ireland. 25-30c most days. at first its nice..now its horrible and i want it to end. please bring back the rain. please get the temps under 20 again!

i have always preferred the cold. under 10 (or 15 with a cool breeze in the evenings and a clear sky...perfect). as close to 0 as possible for night time please.

at least we had some snow earlier in the year. that was nice.

anywho i survive by drinking a lot (of water!), staying out of the sun most of the time, cool showers and not much hot food. AC is not really a thing here. i hope we get a nice big thunderstorm to signal the end of the heatwave. that would be nice.

Society is a strange one. An inch of snow and people freak as if they have never seen nor felt such a cold, white form of water falling from the sky. The temperature hits 90 degrees and it is like the Twilight Zone episode where, in the beginning, the sun is getting closer to earth and the heat is permanent.

It's 28 Celsius in Calgary, Alberta,Canada today. Thank God this part of the country we get Chinooks in the winter and it's dry heat in the summer's. Mostly nice weather year round.

I can deal with the heat myself but it's playing hell with the plants in my greenhouse, I've had to remove almost every glass pane to try and cool it down in there.

We're close. We hit 112F (44.4C) yesterday. Phoenix was even worse. They hit 115F (46C).

There is no way I could live in the South, too many hot days. Even here up North, I stay in the A/C as much as possible on hot days. I'll take mid to high 60's and slightly overcast as much as possible.

It's about 32°C outside, 35°C at home. And there's nothing I can do about it. It's quite horrible actually. I'm so going to the lake after work.

I spent the afternoon in Saint Tropez and it was 47°C in the sun there ? I just sat at a cafe under some shades and looked at the yachts. No way I'm exposing my skin to direct sunlight when it's this hot!

I live in the South all my life, I can't imagine starting a new area and my body is sensitive to cold 30 below temp. All I have is summer clothes and I have adapt to heat but 90 above is beyond overkill to bare.

I become basement-man inside, and pool-man outside. I don't know how all the basement-less people handle it. I feel for them.

That's why our house has central air conditioning plus ceiling fans in every room. It also helps to have an ice-filled pitcher of water ready at all times. It's only three months though. Once we head into the fall, winter, and spring, it's cooler with mostly sunny conditions. If we want to romp in snow, we simply drive an hour up to the mountains.

Oh. If we keep the curtains and doors closed during the day (with fans and A/C off), the warmest it gets inside is 80F to 82F even when it's +100F outside. Very good insulation at home also matters.

Yeah, I know. I'm spoiled. ;)

What's strange is we've had this house since 2004. From that time to the present, there hasn't been any case of mandatory water rationing imposed in our county. I guess there's plenty of water even though it's searing hot during summer.
