Different genre music.....LJS9502_basic
Please don't hurt me, I just don't think New Order are as good as Joy Division, even though they make different kinds of music.

I was just saying....:( I actually preferred Joy Division myself...I would also recommend Portishead. Even though they aren't rock, their sound is made of epic win.jachichorroTrip Hop inspired by Massive Attack etc...

Yes! Finally somebody else knows them! Their new album Third is really good.
I've mentioned them several times before...actually I listen to most of the bands listed in this thread. And Mowgai is another band one should try.

Didn't know there was a word for that kind of music. Massive Attack is fine too, got to see them live four years ago, they were very good.

Crass > The Clash & Sex Pistols IMO
I agree, I dont even like the sex pistols, but the clash are a classic imo.
Crass are good, I cannot stand the Sex Pistols at all. I dont care how influencial they were I still think they are a crappy band. The Clash are my favorite punk band though, next to the stooges and Television.
Technically, The Stooges are proto punk...Crass are good, I cannot stand the Sex Pistols at all. I dont care how influencial they were I still think they are a crappy band. The Clash are my favorite punk band though, next to the stooges and Television.

I know, I have no idea why they are so "influential" when they're just a bunch of sellouts.
[QUOTE="jachichorro"][QUOTE="Bauers-Twin"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]The Cure, Placebo, Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division, Bloc Party, Kasabian, The Clash, Muse, Oasis, Blur.....LJS9502_basic
that list owns besides the one band on there i never heard of, New Order.
Remaining members of Joy Division. Good stuff, but not as good as they were with Ian Curtis.
Different genre music.....oh i never knew about that, yeha Joy Division is awesome in such a strange way its hard to describe. I used to think they were boring but this switch got hit and like wow, its hard to describe their appeal.
Manic Street Preachers and Mott The Hopple are also good choices imo though many cant stand them. Film-Guy
 I can't stand MSP but like the little I know of Mott The Hoople.

Plus they are so arrogant and they spit on their fans.
This thread is lacking British Hardcore. Enter Shikari (trance/hardcore hybrid) and Bring Me The Horizon (Deathcore so I'm not sure if you'd actually like it) are full of win. Also Snow Patrol is Irish not sure if that's been mentioned. LAZZOR
Irish rock is a whole 'nother thread or two.
the clash, the strokes, the fratellis, and the libertines. btw how can you listen to coldplay? ewwUltima_5
The Strokes are american, not british.
