Blu Rays are becoming more quickly the go to source for film and TV show releases. With many releases of older movies on the horizon (Taxi Driver, LOTR Trilogy), and pretty much every new release getting it's Blu Ray counterpart, have you made the switch to the HD era?

I have, and I love it. Some Blus definitely look better than others, but for the most part, more memory=more extras=1000x better quality than DVDs. They are quite an investment, so Amazon helps a lot. So yes, I can safetly say I will probably never buy a DVD again.

I rarely watch movies at home, so no. And when I do, my cable provider has a big HD library I can rent from. So no hard copies.

I buy both. For blockbuster movies or big sporting events, I'll buy Blu-rays. For most half hour sitcoms/TV series', I'll buy DVD's because I like to watch them before bed (only have a DVD player in my bedroom).

No and I don't plan on buying them for a long time. I don't notice the difference as I only ever buy television shows on DVD. I don't really think that watching season 3 of The West Wing would make any different on Blu Ray opposed to DVD ...

1000x better? Not even close. BluRays look better but it's not even that significant. DVD's are just fine with me.

Well, the resolution would have to be 1000x better to at least be technically 1000x better than DVD's and it's not. Hell, most people have a hard time seeing a difference between 720p to 1080p. I watch DVD's all the time and JUST got done watching Get Him To The Greek in BluRay. There's not a big difference, just admit it!:xI sure if Jesus was here he'd back me up.8)

I still have a massive DVD collection. However I do have some Blu-Ray movies; the latest being the Alien Anthology box set.

Yup, it will be four years in July since I made the switch to blu ray and those four years were very pleasing to my eyes.

Animated films are a safe bet if you want to get a Blu Ray film.

I wasn't impressed at all with blu-ray and my PS3 until I rented a BR movie and it installed BDlive or some blu-ray java script and now I'm totally impressed with blu-ray (and its upscalling dvds). I guess having a PS3 is great for blu-ray and getting updates. btw I've never used bdlive but it sounds cool to text or talk to others who are watching the same movie.

I buy all my new movies on Blu Ray. All my old movies are on Laserdisc, which is by far the coolest movie format of all time. The only things I have on DVD are box sets of TV shows, cartoons, or anime.

No. I don't have an HDTV, and even if I did, I don't buy enough movies to justify the cost of buying a Blu Ray player (or the Blu-Ray's themselves).

DVD's are good enough for me. Blu-Ray isn't that much of a difference imo. Meaning it isn't quite a big jump to be called a new era.

it's rare for me to buy movies at all even though i do it on occassion.

i watched my dads vhs collection go obsolete and then his dvd collection go obsolete so it just seems like a suckers game to me.

if i do break down and buy one it's on blu ray.

i spend next to nothing on netflix and can watch any blu ray that is out so i just don't see the need to own anything.

Sort of, second hand or old DVD's are a lot cheaper. Newer releases between bluray and DVD tend to be closing the gap in price somewhat. I have a few blurays, but I wouldn't repurchase movie's I have on DVD.

I've noticed VAST improvements over the past few weeks. Now I'm just waiting on closed captioning support and I'll be more willing to take streaming-options-as-a-replacement more seriously

I rarely buy movies to begin with. The prices would have to come way down for me to even consider it.

I do get Blu-Ray from Redboxes though.

The quality sometimes is not the best, and they don't have the biggest HD selection. But I'll take convenience and cheapness over video quality any day. If I wanted to enjoy movies on blu-ray I'd have to buy a blu-ray player and movies that cost around 20-30 bucks a pop. With Netflix all I need is an HDMI cable to hook up my laptop to my TV and pay 10 bucks a month to watch as many movies online that I want and get one DVD at a time in the mail.
