Has Anyone Ever Won a Million on "Millionaire"?

This is a stupid question, I know, but for all the times I've watched the show with either Regis or Meredith no one has ever won a million dollars. Or even come within grasp of that million for that matter.

I don't remember the man's name, but he was the first to win it on a question about Richard Nixon's appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

Oh, I looked it up....

The guy's name was John Carpenter and the show was Laugh-In.

There have been 12 people who have won 1 million dollars. One of the wiiners won it on a special (top prize was 10 million)

I know of at least one winner. It was awesome. The dude used his "phone a friend" lifeline on the very last question to call his father. Then he was like, "Hey Dad. I just wanted to call and tell you that I won 1 million dollars." He proceeded to answer the question correctly. Schwah

oh man that was such an amazing moment, the guys name was John Carpenter by the way :)

I figured there was someone out there who had won that million. Thanks for the replies.
