Google today launched its own social network in an attempt to challenge facebook with a service that ties together all its existing sites such as Gmail. Google+ is structured in a remarkably similar way to Facebook with profile pictures and newsfeeds forming a central core. hey, once upon a time people thought myspace was invincible.. facebook will eventually be taken out, it's just a question of by whom.. google is a damn good contender. The better question tho, is who will take out twitter. Twitter has grown so much since its start, and it's kinda a mess with alot of bugs. Someone could design a new and better type of twitter and make twitter the next myspace.
If this does replace Facebook it better have instant messaging, similar photo and video sharing, a like system, and a better news feed that's relevant to me

Google can suck it. I have to help people at the library set up gmail accounts so can use google docs. Well, get this... to verify your account, they have to text you a verification code. A lot of library people don't have cell phones, so it's so ****ing convenient for them. Seriously, google can go to hell.
Isn't this the 2nd time? Google should give up, I'm sure they make a crap-ton of income from JUST the search engine, let alone all the other things they include.
hmm I kinda like the look of it tbh, might make an account this week to see how it is, although of course the real factor in whether i stay with it or not will be if my friends also start using it
Also from what im reading about it Google+ has more privacy messures than facebook which may prove to be a big thing in the long run :)
Google (the search engine) became popular because it was the the "default" search engine Facebook will have no trouble with this, its like call of duty, when it becomes popular, it cannot be destroyed because its popularity gives you more reason to use it.
It's not adding any notable new feature Facebook doesn't already have, albeit I admit that adding 200 or so people into a facebook "circle" manually was tiring. Still, I see no harm in this. I might as well start worshiping our new Overlord Google before its world domination and receive additional benefits as one of the first Googlnians.

Also I think it could work, what I miss from Facebook is customizing your own profile like in Myspace. I could put that HTML and CSS into good use now!
Didn't Google specifically say that they were not directly competing with Facebook. For example google plus is invite only right now, and the friend system is completely different than Facebook, as there are a few different types of friends(basically Close friend would be a group, relative would be a group, co-worker would be a group and so on). I think after their first two failures they are trying something different. Also profile pictures are a part of every social networking site including the Myspace that came before Facebook, so I dont see it as Google copying Facebook. As for news feeds and any other Facebook similar feature, maybe they looked at Facebook and said"Hey they are doing something right, maybe we should learn what works and use it." It would be nice if Google plus uses the Myspace form of personalizing your profile.

yeah, that's what i was thinking.. they will know everything. well maybe google bank for all your financial convenience. and yeah i'm sure they won't turn down a blood sample ;)
