@PSP107: Screen-time for both movies is comparable.
But the way the first movie is shot, it's deliberately awkward cutaway shots where almost all the time can barely see what is going on. In some cases it's great, like the Dante's Inferno sequence, but a lot of the time it's closer to something like Cloverfield until the final fight sequence.
The "human stuff" in it drastically bogs it down in my opinion feeling much more monotonous than it should.
Not like Predator where you actually only see it on screen for 10 minutes but everything building up to it is engaging. It's just boring.
KOTM is far more straightforward in nature and closer to the later B-movies, specifically still has problem of "shit I don't care about", but the score kind of lifts it on emotional level in some scenes using remade versions of original scores from that Battlestar Galactica fellow.
So yea, more execution than actual difference of screen time.
