I used to LOVE Family Guy and thought "This show will always be hilarious" but the newer episodes are proving to be absolute crap. I just watched the new one on Adult Swim where Brian and Stewie are locked in a bank vault for 2 days and I didn't laugh once. I found myself saying "Thats disgusting" or "Why is Stewie always really blatantly homosexual? Its never funny". Its like Seth McFarlane wants the series to die, its all poop jokes, sexual jokes, or random stupid stuff that doesn't make ANY sense. The old episodes where funny and pretty consistent and good at keeping one or two stories in a different episode rather than this new jump all over the place, say whatever comes to mind crap it seems to have become. Meg is the punchline all the time. Peter is stupider than ever and not even funny, he used to be somewhat smart with all his references to old sitcoms and TV shows from years gone by and funny jokes that actually made sense. Stewie used to be the bad*** baby that was ruthless and wanted his mother dead, now hes all about homosexuality, in what seems to be a mocking way. Chris is hardly in any episodes anymore. Lois is a **** for no reason. And Brian is too busy trying to come off as deep and brooding to be impressive that he fails at it and doesn't even say funny one liners or punch lines anymore. What happened to the funny Family Guy? The Family Guy that didn't have to relate to everything that happens in todays world but pokes fun at our society's recent history? What happened to the show I thought was the pinnacle of animated American television? Someone please tell me.

TL;DR-Family Guy turned into crap. Agree? Disagree? Explain.

Yes. Every since they brought it back it's been total crap. Totally random humor was hilarious for a while but the shtick has gotten old. And it way too political (one sided at that) now. Time to put it down along with Simpsons.

Simpson's at its worst was better than Family Guy at its best. (Especially now)

Actually I think they happened at the same time as the best family guy was the original seasons, which happened when the Simpson's where going down hill.

Its just annoying at this point. And I agree with The Simpsons too, let Homer die. For real. He's had enough brushes with death, let one of them take him lol. The Simpsons were awesome in the 90s, Family Guy was awesome in the early 2000's (00-09), Im just waiting for something else to come along and replace it. The randomness in Family Guy used to be at least somewhat well-founded, it was random but not just moronic, now its just mindless dribble coming out of the mouths of everyones "favorite" animated family. Seth McFarlane has so much more potential than this.

Simpsons is still moderately decent to pretty good. Used to be king though.

I never found Family Guy to be even remotely funny.

The two sit-com cartoons which always make me smile are King of the Hill and Futurama. God, I love those two shows.

As of the simpsons discussion, I agree its not as great as it used to be but its still pretty funny.

If anything I think King of the Hill found new life in Adult Swim. I love King of the Hill. Except Peggy, I HATE Peggy Hill... Everything she does/says. I just hate it. And Futurama is at the very top of animated television. I love me some Futurama. Its random but it can do that because its not founded in reality like Family Guy is.

Probably best it goes down soon. I definitely prefer South Park over it nowadays. It seems to keep up episode after episode, where Family Guy can be inconsistent, completely lacks any type of storyline (not that I'm asking for one, but South Park occasionally throws us something decent), and sometimes unfunny. Seth either needs to go back to the roots of the show, or put let it go.

I was just reading over KOTH quotes from this page I found, and some of these bring tears of nostalgia to my eyes.

Doctor: Then I'm sorry, but all Western medicine can really offer you are drugs... *and nothing.* But some people have had good luck with yoga. I hear there's a studio over in McMainerberry.

Hank: Yoga? Isn't that a cult?

Doctor: The group that rented the space before them was a cult. That's probably what you're thinking of.

Well last time i kept up with it, Fox aired new episodes on Sundays and then Cartoon Network Showed them a week later on Monday. I'm not sure if thats how it goes anymore or not, with Fox having The Cleavland Show (also crap, stereotypes FTL!) and American Dad (has its moments but not great), I dont think they would drop Family Guy. I'm not sure though since its been like 4 months, maybe more, since I've watched a new episode on Fox.

yeah. It's time for it to go. They've completely run out of ideas now

Big chicken fights aren't funny any more. Neither is Meg abuse. Or Peter's stupidity.

The rely too much on pointless cutaways and shock humour that usually has nothing to do with the plot. A weak episode once in a while is understandible, but when they have to use so much filler on the show, it's time to put it down.

Family Guy is truly painful to watch now. Back in the first few seasons, the show had charm. The characters were likable, the humor was witty and the references actual made sense in context of the story. The show is nothing but manatee jokes now or trying to be as offensive as possible. It reminds me of Carlos Mencia in cartoon form.

Yeah.

That ties in with what Pirate said on the first page. The show, as a result of the change in Brian's character, has become way too political and one sided (and this is comming from some one who leans well to the left.)

And the focus on bran and stweie has killed the show. Older episodes were about the family as a whole, not just 2 characters doing stupid and absurd stuff for no apparent reason.

The political stuff goes right over a lot of peoples heads since I'm pretty sure that a lot of Family Guys audience is under 21. When they reference politics or some mediocore actor or something like that, my mind shuts off. Im 18, I dont care about that kind of stuff. Show me something funny. Because evil Stewie and the original big chicken fights were hilarious.

Referencing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, not so much. I remember when they said that I had to google it, and then it didnt even tie into the joke (they all said it simultaneously) so I was ok with it, now they reference stuff like that and Im like why bother?

This is what I've been trying to tell the people I know. The show is beyond pointless. They refuse to develop characters, recent episodes are devoid of plot, the flashbacks are not funny, it is a slide show of stupidity.

While I haven't bothered watching Family Guy in the last 6 or 7 years and never thought that it was any better than "decent" (even before cancellation), I've gotta disagree with you here.

If you shut off your mind as soon as you get shown something that you don't care about, that's not really reflective of the show's quality or lack thereof. You say "show me something funny", but maybe you WOULD find it funny if it didn't "go over your head" and you didn't "shut your brain off".

I stopped watching the show years ago, but from what I've heard they recently had a horrible episode about trans people.
