I think the way people dress can tell a lot about a person, but remember it can deceive too. Sometimes, those who dress 'gansta' have never touched a gun, and probably had to beg their mom to buy their clothes; and I've seen people dress as if they're successful, but they park their cars blocks away because they're too embarrased to show their low end, ten year old car...

i guess the real reason y i posted this is cuz the other day i was wearing a pink polo from american eagle

so 2 of my friends were with me (who both really just wear w/e) and they asked where my shirt was from and i told them and they just responded "man i could never dress like that its gay and well instead of asking them what they meant by that i just didnt really say anything and thought about if dressing like that reflected me. and i cant c how but i really couldnt think of what dressing prepy means(like how it reflects you) and then i asked myself well if gothics and "gansta" acting plp dress a certain way and act a certain way how do i act a certain way diffrent from my friends(who are as close to my personality as i can think of)

Not really. I dress pretentiously, and I'm not that pretentious. Smart and dickish, but not that pretentious. Although I do dress like I'm a regular in a cartoon (never changes).

lol in utopia maybe that wouldnt be lame.

its lame to dress like a freak and expect to be treated as an equal. Its like people in New Orleans who want to sit on their front porch and wait for a handout. both lame. both a demonstration of the unfair nature of the world

good way of putting it

the best way i can interpret that is like if ur a guy and u c some other guy walking alone in the mall on a quite day(this was just the first thing i thought of)

if u c a guy walking with like a slipknot shirt and black jeans they would prolly think he is just pissed off at the world

if u c a guy walking dressed in nice prepy clothing u might think he has alot of friends and mayb a girlfriend

if u c a guy walking dressed all out gangster you might think he has mayb more than 1 g/f and lives in a rough neighborhood

but actully that might not b the case

and if ur angry about how one of thoose topics makes u look then dont blame plp for thinking that, blame the steriotype that follows how u dress.

I dress very casually. Kind of like how John Travolta and Samuel Jackson get dressed up after their clothes are ruined in PULP FICTION and they got to take QT's clothes. I'm real sensitive to dyes and fabrics so I wear light cotton stuff and tend not to buy new clothes because I don't feel comfortable in 90% of it.

But I will dress up if I'm going out somewhere. Let's face it people judge you on your clothes unless they have to work with you or be around with you for some reason then they will probably learn to look through that.

How do I dress?

I wear Ecko, Famous Stars and Straps, DC,and other urban/skating brands.

I tend to wear baggy clothes but I don't try to dress like a "gangsta" or anything I just hate tight clothes and I think baggy clothes are a lot more comfortable.

Do I think it reflects me? Yes, since half of my clothes are from skating brands its kind of obvious that I skateboard.

Not in my case.

Then again my clothing style is very generic, the way i like it. Considering you are practically a clean slate when people make their first judgement of you then they treat you more like they would a potential friend than a potential enemy which is the mindset most people try unless they are A) being served by the person or B) forced to work with the person for prolonged periods of time.

I have my friend iron my clothes. Wrinkles look bad.

I don't imagine kids dressed in preppy clothin as having a lot of friends and a girlfriend, but live in a nuclear family and gettin rides in mom's mini van.

umm yea it does. Girls are going to like the guys who dress the best (look the best)

how does it not make sense.

Whats funny is how most here are so self involved that they turn it into "The way I dress" Instead of answering as a broad question.

The way you dress does effect what people perceive of you, but it may or may not be an accurate reflection of yourself. Personally, I dress usually in cargo pants or jeans, with a t-shirt and a 'fashionable' longsleeve overshirt with the arms rolled up to the elbow. Sometimes accompanied by a necklace that may or may not match. The other day, a girl (in real life! lol) told me that I had my own style. She likened it to a Calfifornia look, where she went to high school--I've never been farther west than Cleveland.

But I generally disapprove of the goth style, and I'm all for the casual business look as it is much more professional.

And I really, really hate flip-flops...

I don't believe I dress in any particular style. I just wear cargo pants, blank T-shirt of a color that matches the pants, and a thin black hooded sweater that doesn't go past my waist. The shoes are the same Addidas that I've been wearing for five years.

yeah pretty much many people are defined by how they are dressing than how they act. It happens to me all the time though they define me as uncommon because everytime my friends and I go out I always wear the same style of clothing XD

You could say so, like me when i was young i was a lot into the gang thing, but the real gang thing not like those white boys trying to be 50cent(no offence even though its pretty embarassing). im 20 now and i still have the look but im no way, shape or form in the gang anymore, i mean after losing like 10 friends to the streets and gotten shot at....i finally opened my eyes. but yeah i still look like a gang member. even though i try not to. im a different person now, as you can see im more into video games now hehe. people have even told me im way too friendly for the way i look.

Ahahah

Well, no matter how you dress, you are giving people who stereotype a stereotype to see you as. I'm sure sometimes it reflects who people are, other times it doesn't. Depends on the person. I'd rather get to know a person before I assume who they are by their clothing.

Me personally, I'm a pretty safe bet. I think the way I dress reflects my personality nicely.

I dress normally. I'm a metal head but I have ZERO metalish clothing. I just wear what I pick out. Right now I'm wearing a hoodie, some fairly loose pants and nice shoes... It really means nothing.
