I've noticed that sometimes when I'm in public, a random person will smile at me.
I find it hard to smile back at a random stranger, and then I feel like somewhat of an ass if I don't smile back.

I smile at strangers all the time. It's just because i'm happy and friendly. dkdk999How do you do it, like just the casual nod with a smirk kind of or a full blown :D?
I've been told that they do so to see if it'll make someone's day. You know, like those commercials where someone smiles, and at the end someone gets a new car? Like you said though. I'd feel weird smiling back, but I feel like a butt when I don't too.

Now that I think about it I should try going around like :D.
hmm I must be odd, when someone smiles at me I have to smile back. I just like to see smiles, so it makes me smile.I've been told that they do so to see if it'll make someone's day. Yup. People who are naturally happy are definitely odd. We should get you to the hospital straight away. There might be something wrong with your negativity gland.

Yeah, it creeps me out sometimes.
Especially when a teacher is staring directly at you with a smile like she is trying to seduce me or something.
Yep all the time, I smile back and them menacingly with one of those slasher smiles as they back away

They stare... and laugh. I find it unsettling. Like they're eyeraping me the same way I'm doing to them when they look away.
Yes I don't get it either.-RenegadeYou will get it if you visit 3rd world country..... lot's of nice and less selfish people
I get people that smile at me. I get people that stare at me for long periods of time making me nervous. Hell once in the train a group of like 5 people were staring at me and I was freaking out. I never understand why though.
You are an ass if you don't smile back.
People, in an attempt to be nice, or cheerful, will sometimes smile at you for no other reason than you look friendly.
I know, the world is ending.
