Not really...some people have the idea that if something has a French or Italian name it must be fancy, but i've never seen someone obsess over all things European.

Mebbe a couple decades ago. With so many Euro companies opening US factories, the goods aren't really imported anymore, and the stuff that still is imported is very highly priced.

No matter what insane, asinine, utterly stupid and impossible concept you think up, there is at least one person who believes it to be true.

there are a few things europe makes that are better than the stuff in the states.

i.e. luxury cars or candy.

some things are better in the us. i don't think anything made in europe is good but anything made in europe and is worth importing across the pond must be worth a second look.

Ok, but can people see why I asked this question? I mean, hasn't there been a point where you are buying something and someone says "oh it's made in Italy, so that's pretty authentic which is better."? I could be wrong though.

i think china can't really support itself without the economical growth, and a big cheap labor pool is one of the biggests supports for china right now. this will probably become a big problem 20 or 30 years down the line.

Europe makes good cars and music. When I see something is made in some European country, I generally have a positive outlook on it's dependability(except maybe if it's made in the Eastern European countries).

Well you shouldn't think AK when you think of Europe, since it came from Russia, most of which is considered to be in Asia.

I dont think this is really a question of Americans, but rather anybody importing foreign goods. Im from the UK, and if i bought something and said "yeah man i got it in america" that automatically adds some form of invisible bonus points to whatever i'm showing off.

It's just an idea which seems luxurious; that you got something from another country.

I'm not really talking about Volkswagon but more along the lines of Mercedes and BMW. Although some of those cars are made in the US, they still beat the quality of the cars built by the Big Three.
