Damn, america is a messed up country.

How do you americans live with such a country? its run by total idiots who spend billions like its nothing. the republicans and democrats dont work together, instead they fight against eachother... while both of them are wrong. you guys are losing your rights day by day... atleast 40% of you dont pay taxes, and 1% has more money than the other 99. it has the highest prison population per capita... the list goes on and on

People complain because they have little to no real hardship and as a result whine about their first world problems. America isn't perfect but it could be a lot worse. Especially when you have people in Pakistan being sentenced to death for blasphemy, something people can freely do in the US.

I don't get the point of this thread, but whatever. Most people who talk hate about America are ironically Americans themselves who have no idea of life outside, or people who have never been, so in general it tends to be a pointless argument.

I really don't like the mentality of: "first world problems, stop whining". Even if they are just "first world problems", doing nothing, and never complaining, isn't useful. I think you should always be critical and search for solutions to problems.

The two of you seem to misunderstand. I never said shut your mouth because your problems don't compare to people in developing countries being murdered because they can't name Muhammad's descendants or was unlucky enough to get raped and your family decided to redeem their honor.

Nothing is wrong with protesting things you don't agree with, the Constitution gives people in the US that right. I just pointed out that people literally act like being in America is worse than being in Somalia or North Korea because of petty things they complain about but make no attempt to change.

I will try to change things I don't agree with but at the same time I appreciate what I have since I've been in several bad areas, something your average person who has almost everything handed to him never experienced. There is a difference between reading about hardship on Wikipedia and actually living in or around it for a year.

I grew up in a urban middle class neighborhood, had family in a what people call "the ghetto", spent summers in a step-dads second home out in the country side, dated a rich girl in a gated community, and now I live in suburbs on my own.

I pretty much have gotten to see how every demographic in our country lives. And to be honest, we may complain, and the news loves to dramatize (for money) but honestly, living in the US is sweet.

Being poor in America means you most likely have a roof over your head, a fridge, food, clothes, TV, cable, cell phone, maybe even a car depending on your state.

There are some poor economic policies that creates a flawed economic gap between the rich and the poor but you still won't find many other countries offering more opportunities for social mobility. Crime is also hitting record lows nationally.

We just constantly complain and fight cause... thats how we get things done. Probably not the most efficient method but hey, its worked so far.

The one thing I always think of when these threads show up is the U.S is the one country that "should" have the power to change itself easily.  Compared to other messed up countries that could only dream of changing life for the better.

A lot of what goes on in America goes well beyond 'first world problems'.

The fact that you need to compare  to Africa or the middle east to make the US look good is kinda pathetic. 

I agree that the people who run the country are retarded (damn sore losers won't let things happen). We work ourselves to death and make the people with all the money look like gods. Man, the media has ruined a good country.
