Poll: 69 percent see Russia as threat to US

From the article:

Sixty-nine percent of people see Russia as a threat to the United States — the highest level recorded since the breakup of the Soviet Union, according to a new poll.

A CNN-ORC poll released Friday found another 31 percent say they do not see Russia as a threat. That number stood at 53 percent two years ago.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is also seen in a negative light by 68 percent of people. Only 11 percent said they have a positive view of him.

Recent polling has shown the United States’s view of Russia has been at all-time lows. Those numbers have only declined after Russian forces invaded Crimea, a southern peninsula in Ukraine.

Seven in 10 said there is no justification for Russia’s action in Ukraine. Eight in 10 say the move has violated international law.

The CNN poll also shows that nearly 50 percent of respondents believe a new cold war with Russia is likely in the next few years. Another 40 percent said they are worried about nuclear war with the country.

----------------------------------------------------

Stop it people, we are on a reset with Russia.

What do they mean by "threat" first before we discuss the why some might feel that way.....honestly I never hear any discussion about Russia so I can't say what they mean.

After the recent events in Crimea, yes I do. They obviously couldn't care less about international rules, and that can be very dangerous.

Yea the world hasn't changed much after all so hopefully we'll be hearing less about modernity and progressiveness in general.

On another note:

Seven in 10 said there is no justification for Russia’s action in Ukraine. Eight in 10 say the move has violated international law.

Oh you

So when they say that Russia is a threat, they mean that Russia is a threat to the Ukraine. Well, that's probably true. I assumed they saw Russia as a much greater threat...a global threat, even.

International Community Considers US Greatest Threat to World Peace

US is considered to be the greatest threat to peace in the world

And that's only in militaristic terms - the percentage of world population that would consider the US as a threat culturally and economically would be far higher.

I am sorry, I did not realize the United States annexed parts of Iraq and Afghanistan. Did I miss something?

When we start taking land in Mexico and Canada you can compare the two, right now this is apples and oranges. We do not land grab, unless you want to crack open history books. In that case we are no different than any other country on Earth.

He's know what I'm taking about and no, it has nothing to do with the drivel you've just posted. That's okay though; you've only been here for a few days. Just sit and learn. Don't react so frequently.

I don't wanna change the subject. As far as dictatorships; they're usually a threat to their own population. They're not a threat to the world at large

It seems like it. You started talking about another country instead of addressing the question.

I'm not saying dictatorships automatically are a threat to the world. But generally dictatorships are more likely to be a threat. Doesn't that make sense? They're more volatile and unreliable with power centred around one man. Look at Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein. Which democracy has even been close to the threat of them? And the classic, no democracies has ever been in war with each other. That's what they say and I can't think of an example proving it wrong.

So the American propaganda has worked thus far.

I find this interesting though. America loves to go "invade" countries, telling the American people it's to save lives, or create stability. While other countries look on, shocked, taking note of the war-crimes the USA commits.
Yet when another major country decides to help a country, protecting it from the instability at it's borders, America's media spins it so hard in the opposite direction.

In a sense, this gives Americans a chance to look in the mirror.
