The girl who was hit by a van in china and ignored by passers by when she lay on the road has died... :(

I wonder if she would have survived if so many people hadn't walked past without doing anything.

Story

Sorry if already posted.

sorry, tragic accident. I think the girl's life could be spared, if the back wheels of the first van didn't run over her. if you'd see the video when the front wheels run over the little girl the driver stopped, then he just continued, so in all the little girl was run over 4 times... if the heartless driver stopped and helped the girl. she should have been alive up to now..

They'll find the drivers (claim they have), or two people and say they were the drivers, then execute them. Justice!

Bystander effect strikes again. I never really understood it. I mean, I guess I could reason with it if there was a guy with a gun beating the **** out of another guy. Maybe then I wouldn't do anything besides call the police, but still... what the hell is wrong with these people? I wish I was there. I would have done something to help her. The only person who helped her was too late. http://the-diplomat.com/china-power/2011/10/20/chen-xianmei%E2%80%99s-tragedy/ In this article they're talking about how people are criticizing her for helping the girl. WTF?

Similar events have happened everywhere (famous rape case here many years ago). Research shows it happens b/c of social loafing...people think, 'someone else will help...why should I...not my responsibility, etc' In some respects, you are better off with less people around if you get in trouble/need assistance

Certainly shows an extreme example of Chinese law morality over there, Hopefully some restructuring will be the best option. Or at least change their perceptions of helping someone in need.

.. This is nothing new and happens all over the place.. Including the United States.. A famous rape case for instance had a girl gang raped while dozens of bystanders watched and did nothing.. Another famous case was in NYC where a guy literally bled to death on the side walk with people passing by him and not helping..

So sad. I actually saw the video of the little kid get crushed a few minutes ago. :( It's sickening to know that something like that can happen in a nation which is suppose to be a world power. Not even in africa or the middle east would people just walk by as a child gets ran over by two trucks and those are the most messed up regions on this planet.

Not surprising. The Chinese have no regard for human life. This is the same nation that makes lead toys, poisoned baby formula and pet food, cooking oil made of raw sewage, cars that fold up like accordions, and that has a huge problem with female infanticide.

And your buddies in corporate America and the Republican Party think it's a great idea to outsource our production to these people

Well, there are over 1.5 billion of them. Why should they care? It's like when a shark loses a tooth. Another one will just take its place. Big deal.

Did you honestly compare an entire living organism to a shark tooth? Yeah, people reproduce, so naturally there will be someone else. But what this is, is complete and utter disregard for human life. In a way, it is a big deal. Actions like these are what keep humanity behind from creating a better world.

Nah. It's what's keeping them Chinese behind. Yes, it happens everywhere, but the Chinese come across as a tad special judging by what my numerous Chinese friends and acquaintances from different parts of China have told me.

The reason people didn't help her though is largely because of a court case a few years back when a college student helped an old woman up off the road and to the hospital. She sued him and won because the judge reasoned "Why would anyone but the person who hit her in the first place aid her". China does a pretty good job of making it's government institutions look bad. Also the guy who hit her was arrested. On a side note the girl who DID help the hit girl had to leave her hometown because people wouldn't leave her alone over this.
