Can they do pull it off?

Apparently the method they use is build the parts separately then put it together like a LEGO building. I'm sure it takes way more than 90 days to create the individual parts.
also, the building will collapse
Don't take the "90 days" too literally, haven't read the link but would assume it's prefab.MrPraline
This is skewing stuff, they are having the building mostly made up of prefab parts, so basically all they will do is put them together on site. In general it will still take way longer than 90 days for all the parts to be made, not to mention the transportation hassle of moving (probably) gigantic skyscraper cubicles. chaplainDMKI wonder if they will be gigantic, maybe they will just be like tiny rooms, I mean that's still a building right?
You know what America should do now? Buy 9000 tonnes of peanut butter and bake some huge bread. That way they could take all the jelly in this thread and at least win the race to make the world's biggest sammich.
LOL at people poking at China for this. If it was the US, people would be like "fvck yeah America rules!"
This actually seems pretty cool, so I hope they actually succeed. Though I don't see the point in the whole 90 days thing, I would rather them take their time in completing such an ambitious project. The plan is for Sky City to house 31,400 people in spread across both luxury and low-income communities. Residential space will make up 83% of the tower, entirely serviced from within the building by schools, hospitals, offices, shops and restaurants.

Well they will have to be quite large or else there's going to be way to many of them. I think.
[QUOTE="Zeviander"]And it'll fall over in 30.LJS9502_basicBeat me to it..... OT said the same thing about this

thats not including the god knows how many months the prefabrication factory phase takes, im also assuming the foundations will magically be perfect
ive seen the 15 day one and it is impressive, everything is built in to the pods, M&E, drainage, insullation, finishes the lot, it wont fall over its all brilliantly designed
a lot of bitterness going on, this could be the future

Probably. China is the next super power isn't it?
TheFlush
I hope for them that their economy doesn't fall over.
But I'm afraid it's going to be a big bubble, their economy is growing so fast and the cracks are beginning to show.
What are these cracks? This isn't a smart ass reply btw I genuinely want to know lol

The Chinese are building entire flats and even cities that have no inhabitants.
There are millions of people who are piss poor and can't ever pay for such an appartment or house, so they are destined to keep on living in their slums while working their asses off in factories under bad circumstances. These cities are being built for the simple fact that they can, but there are too few people able to pay to live in them. So these cities are already crumbling away at this moment. The division between rich and poor is getting bigger and bigger. China is turning itself into a massive consumption society, but there are a lot of people who simply are not able to consume. It's a situation that ultimately won't hold.

Is this from intimate knowledge of China's society and economy or is that an assumption drawn from pieces of western media?
Why are you guys even bringing up 'ghosts cities'. This building is being built by a private company in a city of 7,000,000+ people.
