https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2018/10/17/burger-king-nightmare-king-halloween/1661125002/

What you're looking at is Burger King's newest creation, the "Nightmare King." It's a quarter pounder bacon cheeseburger with a white meat deep fried chicken patty. And yes, it's on a green bun. The crazy thing about this sandwich is that Burger King not only claims it can induce nightmares, but they actually conducted a sleep survey to try to back up their claim. The scientific reasoning is that the combination of different proteins (pork, chicken, and beef) is somehow supposed to disrupt your brainwaves while you sleep, thus inducing nightmares.

I'm calling horseshit. However, I am curious to try to it just to see what, if any, dreams I'd experience after consumption. Although, what's to say that this isn't all psychological? What if it's just a result of Burger King's marketing planting the seed in your mind that generates the nightmares?

Will you try it?

It's not the Angry Whopper, and is therefore irrelevant.

Even if they were being serious with their results, their test isn't 100 percent. They'll just refute with "our studies said you were X% likely to get a nightmare."

It probably could. I mean, between the chemicals to make that bun green, the food poisoning from eating mediocre fast food, or the fear of the eventual heart attack, your chances are pretty good you'll get a nightmare.

@lordlobster:

1) People calling BS and trying it out for themselves.

2) USAToday writing about it, thereby doing Burger King's advertising for them. Sort of reminds me of that thing where people were talking about KFC's "Double Down Sandwich" or whatever it was called. You remember that, right? It was that sandwich with the bun being replaced by fried chicken patties. Anyway, people were talking about how sickening it sounds in concept, then a bunch of people reply with "I tried it and it either was/wasn't as bad as I thought it would be." The thing about that is that I wonder how many people would have tried it in the first place if it was just a menu item and there weren't freaking articles being written about it.

Anyway, this is an ad disguised as an actual article. You know there are people who are going to see this and then buy this burger, if only to confirm to themselves how smart they were by saying that the nightmare claims are BS.

Yeah, I remember the Double Down. I actually liked it. And I fully don't expect to have nightmares from the Nightmare King. I just wanted to try it because of the green bun and I've never had a burger and chicken patty together.

So the US likes to copy Australia? we already had this to promote the Hulk movie when it came out because it was green. How long ago was that?

Just a heads-up, the next promos probably bound for the US;

Raspberry Coke

Black Whopper (they are giving 2x XP for 15 mins for COD Blackout currently)

If I thought there was the slightest possibility of it being true and that the claim was worth testing (I don't).....I still wouldn't try it because nightmares are fucking terrible.

Maybe I'm underestimating a combination of gullibility and desire of to have nightmares in people.

Imagine going to school for years to become a doctor only to end up doing a "study" on green burgers for Burger King.

Let me just say that it kind of reminds me of a restaurant in my town. They actually have great food, but there is (or at least WAS for many years) an item on their menu that was horrible. It's supposed to be horrible. It says right on the menu that it's disgusting. At one point I asked someone who works there if anyone actually buys that thing, and he told me that they're surprisingly popular. Apparently, a surprising number of people end up trying it just to see how bad it really is.

*shrugs*

I guess sometimes people are just weird.

There's a fucking restaurant called the Heart Attack Grill. Why the hell would anyone want to eat food purposefully bad that it might give a heart attack? There are restaurants out there whose central gimmick is having horrible service. There's restaurants that solicit the fact their service are going to be insulting your party and make everyone feel horrible about being there.

I remember the time Denny's did the bacon sundae, and that made lots of media attention because at the time people didn't know bacon might actually be good on ice cream, and people had to try it to be sure.

At the end of the day these types of gimmicks are a type of thrill that believe it or not, get people's attention. These gimmicks are for "the experience". That's why the Nightmare Burger is a temporary item. It's just for fun for the time people can be festive for Halloween.

Well, I tried it. It's tasty, but EXTREMELY dry. I had to give up about two thirds into it because I was tired of trying to force it down. If I get nightmares because of this thing, it will be because of indigestion.
