Interestingly, when I follow news article comments on this, I see plenty of people hoping it kills him... Same happened when Rush Limbaugh got whatever it was that he had.

Hope he gets better. Britain needs stability right now.

Mate, that's just the internet. Anonymity and distance allows people say whatever they want with no consequences, so they naturally gravitate towards their inner skull-bashing troglodyte worst.

It's just base human nature. Nothing unusual or remarkable here.

Well, it's inevitably going to get political. Hence, it belongs in the Politics forum. See the NHS post above, for example.

As for whether it's actually my baby or not, I like to think so. I did complain my arse off for it back in 2016. And anyway, think of the convenient implication; any time somebody asks why OT is deader than a graveyard full of fossilized Thylacines, you can just blame me. I'm happy to be blamed.

...And now Boris is under intensive care at hospital!

While I disagree with his politics, I wish him the best of luck! The UK needs its PM now.

This is not good, BJ Aka Mini-Trump is needed right now in the UK and the times ahead, not seeing who could take over and not have it return to the previous EU circus with Corbyn.

Will be put on a ventilator, you don't go to IC without it being serious. About time the precaution bull was left out of the media.

I agree, typical Twitter lapping it up like the nihilistic sheep they are.

I heard the survival rate at ICU is something like 50%... This is serious. There's a real possibility that Boris may not survive and the UK government gets plunged into chaos. Regardless of what we may think of the man or his politics, the UK needs a functioning government right now, and needs its PM alive.

From the information I can gather, his symptoms seem to have progressed to that of the 14% of cases that are rated as "Severe." Severe cases require immediate medical treatment, but otherwise their prognosis is excellent. The problem at this stage, ironically, isn't so much the virus itself, but the patient's immune system. The virus has infected the immune cells and sent them into berserk mode, attacking both infected and healthy cells.

The doctors are putting him on oxygen to help him breathe, which is the best thing they can do while they wait for his immune system to adapt to the virus and calm down. It's rough and serious, but we should not overreact here.

So much for his "herd immunity" plan.

Damn. Here’s to hoping he recovers, and soon.
