As the 2010's wrap up what do you think people will get nostalgic over for in this decade?

Nostalgia is a big thing these days especially the 80's and 90's even the early to mid 00's nostalgia is starting to creep up a little it's more of a extension of late 90's culture though. For me I have yet to find anything that great about this decade and it sure isn't it's music. So what do you think it could be? I personally think this decade is totally forgettable for the most part except for some tech advances.

Nostalgia has nothing to do with quality. Even shitty 80's music takes me back.

I don't agree nostalgia has to do with something you miss that you enjoyed it's subjective to your taste and experiences.

So if it's subject to your tastes and experiences, why don't you agree?

A **** ton of marvel films.

Beyond that....you would have to look at the popular toys, pop artists, and cartoons of the current day. They will also probably be nostalgic for some of the times before they had this or that of the current day like we get nostalgic when people when outside to play before video games and the internet. If there's any cartoons out there today that kids really like and has adult humor as well (like Rock's modern life) or works on another level like through character development (like Hey Arnold) then you can expect to see those as well.

Racists will be nostalgic for the days of Trump and "common values" or whatever which will be code for "white people use to have it better."

Maybe fidget spinners? Slime seems to be a thing right now, maybe kids will get back into that for a time.

  • Rick and Morty
  • Bob's Burgers
  • Marvel films
  • That time we elected a do-nothing idiot as President
  • Game of Thrones

I know some of the above will carry into and past 2020, but it sort of started in the 2010's and will be associated with it.

I think I'll remember a lot of the games, certainly. We entered the decade in the later years of the 360 and PS3, stuck around through the years of the 3DS, Vita, One, PS4, Wii-U and the launch of the Switch.

We got Skyrim, Hearthstone, The Last of Us, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption, GTA5, Diablo 3, Fire Emblem Awakening, Hotline Miami, The Witcher 3, Bioshock Infinite, Dark Souls, Overwatch, DOOM (2016), Destiny, Battlefield 4, Halo: Reach, Journey, God of War 3, Battlefield 4, Cuphead, Ori and the Blind Forest, Horizon Zero Dawn, Pokémon Go...tons more, really.

Most people will probably remember this decade for the widespread adoption of smartphones, streaming services, and the collapse of shopping malls.

The only thing this decade will be known for is it's numerous Marvel movies.

Well since it's subjective I do agree but I was thinking more of it in a mainstream pop culture way. I just don't see people finding to much to get nostalgic for when compared to past decades.

If superhero movies go the way of the Western, I can imagine future generations getting nostalgic over superhero movies of the 2010s, just like how older generations get nostalgic over Westerns.

@mrbojangles25: You're President is far better than Canada's Prime Minister. At least Trump is trying to help out his own country, Justin has done nothing but stab Canadians in the back. By far the worst leader I've seen in office.

@horgen: He is still a better leader than Trudeau. Ask most Canadians:Trump over Trudeau. Even Donald Trump doesn't like him. He should have stayed in Quebec.

@comp_atkins: Next year is the end of the decade. 1 being first year of a decade, 10 (or in this decade's case 20) being the last. Very common mistake.

Oh wow, you're right. I actually don't think I was ever aware of that, but it makes sense since there is no year "0" and "2020" would be like the tenth year in that decade.

I guess this decade will drag on a bit longer, then.

Game of Thrones (as well as people reading the Song of Fire and Ice books), the bulk of the Breaking Bad universe, and the Marvel movies were all biggies this decade.
