So men and women of OT, do you think it's perfectly fine for males to shave their armpit hair if it is otherwise quite unruly? I'm curious for a friend, obviously.

How unruly? Unless it's sticking out of tshirts, it's fine.

It's like a beard in your armpits- It's manly! Why would guys shave that?

I know some men who shave their armpits but in my opinion I think it's too much of a hassle. I heard it burns when you put on deodorant and it itches when the hair grows. If the hair is unruly it's probably best to just trim it.

Only people I know who do that is because they want to reduce the characteristic odour. Personally, I don't because I don't have that problem.

Dont see the point, i figured shaving it would make my arm pits very itchy, plus i have light brown hair so it doesn't look like chewbacca its climbing out of my armpits.

Well as a Track and Field athlete, I don't like my pit hair sticking out of my singlet so yes, shave them. It's not very itchy for long and it doesn't burn at all to put on deodorant.

I can and have put on deodorant right after shaving my pits (dry) with no burn whatsoever, and it doesn't itch UNLESS you're trying to grow the whole thing back, in which case it'll itch for a few days once it gets longer. My skin is extremely sensitive as well.

Wouldn't that just be because you shave regularly that it doesn't itch?

I don't think it's too weird. Not to derail the thread, but what about shaving anything else? Legs? Arms? Chest? Where is the line drawn, if there is one?

The only line is the "want" line. If you don't want to shave it, don't; if you do, do.

So you just enjoy that dynamic of growing it out, then shaving it so you get the best of both worlds?

Just to play along I'd say legs is probably the line, just because large amounts of arm hair and chest hair can really be gross, but leg hair just kinda there, I mean every guy has at least some leg hair even if not a lot.

Lol, that's kind of like my arm hair and some of my leg hair it's not exactly blonde, but light so you can't really see the arm hair and some of the leg hair. My armpit hair is however darker for w/e reason. I'm only 16 though so who knows if things will change.

I'd say it's not common, but it's not like it's something that really matters, and I'm sure there are others with little to no armpit hair. Some people are hairy people others are not. The good news is not many people really care whether you have or don't have armpit hair as long as it's not flowing out everywhere looking gross.

I shave everything once a month chest, arm pit, d*** and ass but nothing more. I don't trim or cut with scissors cus then I would need to do it like 2-3 times a month while if you just shave it takes like 2 months for everything to grow back completely.

I shave mine every 3 weeks or so. I developed that habit when I practiced Tae Kwon Do and soccer in high school. Not only it looks awful but smells really awful even when taking daily showers because I sweated a lot. So yes I do shave my armpit hair :)

It's not hard to keep it a perfect short length with a beard trimmer, or buzzer or something. This is the correct answer.

Is it fine? Sure. Should they? I don't think so. At least in my case, I shave mainly to keep neat and comfortable. People rarely see my armpits so I don't really care how they look and the hair doesn't make them uncomfortable.

i have done it before, but not currently.

the reason for that is simply; if you have a girlfriend, and want her to shave her hair, you should also follow their wishes and shave whatever part she thinks should be shaved.

But since im currently without gf, i do whatever i want

I have done it, it's no big deal.

It does feel really weird at first though and sweat will just run right out onto your shirt since it has nothing to absorb or cling to. Putting on deoderant is much easier as well but tends to feel slimy.

My lady loves my pits to look like ManBearPig, so I don't shave it anymore. GrrrrRawr!
