My cousin started teaching me guitar and apparently I was picking it up rather quickly. But he got a job and so the lessons stopped because he didn't have any spare time. I lost my interest in the guitar but I still want to play. I just find it too boring to learn by myself.
I've been playing the guitar for about 6 years now.
No school band experience or anything like that(can't read notation). But i do have videos on YouTube :D
[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]Wow. Sweet. More than I ever got. Just four years in high school band and one and a half years in high school choir.t3hrubikscubeIt's good that you got some, at least. :) I was in band and orchestra in elementary school and all of junior high and high school. I'm hoping to continue in college, starting next semester. :) I'm very partial to band.Oh, yeah... elementary and high school. Forgot about that. Man, I'm feeling dumber and dumber lately.
Not at all. Like the TC, I can't explain why I like some artists and songs more than others, and I can't tell if someone is a good/talented musician or not.All I can judge music by is my feeling towards the sound it creates.
Been playing bass and guitar for seven years now, but I'm much better at bass-- Slap, jazz, technical, harmonic stuff and whatever else (influences include Wooten and Manring). Also, I occasionally fill in as a drummer for my friends band, but it doesn't require me to be Danny Carey-- Just gotta keep the beat. I don't even own a drumset, but ironically enough rock band has improved my skills as a real drummer.. >.>
"Freek has always displayed a keen dedication to music in general. His sense of time and feel stems from his ability to look at the "bigger picture", beyond his instrument (bass). Playing and learning songs on the acoustic/electric guitar has also given him a broad insight into the roles played by instrumentalists. Freek has always (will always) be a pleasure to teach and wherever he focuses his efforts success is sure to follow."
My progress report from my bass teacher. Also he told me I'm his only constant bass student, most just quit after a month or so and the rest of his students all learn electric guitar, as opposed to me who he has been teaching bass education to for close to three years now.
I wouldn't say talented, but I do know a bit about music. I've been playing the guitar and piano for almost a decade now, drums during high school, and the french horn in junior high. I've learned how to count time signatures, read music, compositional structure, and very little on theory.
I can sing and play the saxophone. Unfortunately not both at the same time. Should have picked a guitar >.>
I can't really play any musical instruments, but I sing all the time. I've gotten 4 lead roles in local musicals within the last year, so I must be doing something right. I also did a workshop with one of the stars of Spring Awakening, which was very cool.
I'll probably find a way to double major in college doing something with a stable job description and musical theatre, cause I really do love it and would kill to go pro.
