It depends on the movie.
I bought True Grit in HD because I wanted to better looking scenery. I bought Wanted and 30 Days of Night on DVD because I wanted violence.
At the same time I won't watch films like Avatar or Star Wars at all because their entire focus is on special effects and being as up to date and high def as possible, leading to an extremely shallow end result.
Avatar was not shallow, Star wars is of course. It depends on the movie.

It shouldn't be 'an'. :PMushroomWigThanks. :P I always mistakenly do that with consonants that have a vowel sound, like "ayech - Dee."

How so? The whole story was based around the idea that the human race is built to destroy, the movie is sort of a wake up call, even though most aren't perceptive enough to understand it.Wow that's big... Mine is only like 30 or so  It was cheap though, 350 euros. Not sure how much of a nut I am, it just makes sense to get things in HD now. It's like the transition from VHS to DVD for me.
I just recently bought a 46" Sony Bravia though so... maybe?

I had a 32" Dynex before. I sit pretty far away from the TV as well so it made sense.
Not really. I used an HD tv for about two years, now I'm back to just a SD and I don't have a problem with it...

The whole story was based around the idea that the human race is built to destroy, the movie is sort of a wake up call, even though most aren't perceptive enough to understand it.I saw the film as incredibly black and white, portraying the Marines as a bunch of ****ed meatheads with no personality and the scientists and blue people as extremely peaceful and nonviolent.
Granted, I saw the film once in the barracks about a year ago and didn't really pay much attention to it so maybe thats why.
I can't tell the difference between 1080 p and 720, so it don't matter. ;pWhats funny is that you're probably still playing console games at sub 720 anyways.

The difference is still there.[QUOTE="Lto_thaG"][QUOTE="XaosII"]

Sure, but it doesn't compare to playing a PC game on a 30" monitor at 2560 x 1600.
Everyone knows, but nobody cares. If I had the option between SD and HD, of course I would choose HD. But I'm fine with SD. Regarding sound though, I'm pretty picky a lot of the time.
