The first movie is so-so but I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed the the others. particularly the last one with one of the most ridiculous endings ever (Albert Wesker becomes president of the world).

The games have essentially always been cheesy, terribly written B-movie fun. And that from what I can see is pretty much exactly what the movies are.

Do some Resident Evil fans think this stuff is Citizen Kane or The Seven Seal or something?

I've enjoyed every movie except for 3. I wasn't feeling the whole X-men bit and was glad they killed it off within minutes of the next movie. The last one was pretty cool but I didn't like how Barry or Leon were portrayed. Barry was too young and didn't show how much he actually loves his guns. They made him more of some kind of ex marine or something that used a rifle for most of the movie. When he finally pulled out his colt, I was happy though. I thought he was too young too but, the actor who played him is pretty cool. I've enjoyed some of his previous movies. The "When we drink piss, we drink it cold" line from Wild Hogs is my favorite line from that actor lol. Leon wasn't so bad but wasn't as cocky or cheesy as you'd expect. I also thought that he looked too old. I was hoping Hannigan would make a cameo appearance talking to Leon through some kind of radio transmission or some high tech phone with a little hologram screen popping out of it. Can't have everything I guess. Seeing Michelle Rodriguez is always a good thing, I was happy that they revived her for both RE:R and Fast6. Seeing Carlos die 2 more times was pretty damn funny to me even though I like his character.

As cheesy the story and dialogue the games might have been, they have often been immersive experiences (REmake and RE4 for example) that became serious when needed (maybe the only exception is the cheesefest from the original RE). Also, I would say the characters in the games have much more personality than the one-dimensional badasses from the movies.

i liked them all but i would have to say my least favorite was the last one retribution. they shoulda just stopped the story after afterlife or came with a different plot. i wander what the plot will be for the last film.

I enjoyed the first Resident Evil movie. Didn't care for the second or third so I lost interest after the third one.

I think they're alright, at least they're entertaining and have some resemblance to the games. Every other movie I've seen that's based off a game has usually been awful.

Favorite part in that scene is Ali Larter and seeing her boobs jiggle from the recoil.

I liked the first one, but the rest were just too over the top. They just through my willing suspension of disbelief out the window.

They were a disgrace to the Resident Evil name IMO.

Idk why the games get so much hate.

The early ones were classics to me.

They are entertaining due to how bad they are. It's obvious they are just messing around when making these - I don't think anyone could possibly be taking them seriously. Having said that, the games were definitely in a completely different tone than the RE games so I can understand why they aren't big fans of their favorite series being turned into a movie schlock franchise.

Resident Evil and Apocalypse where decent, up until the point where they ruined Nemesis. I was done with the series after that.

Yeah I like them for the ridiculousness factor. Anybody who actually takes the movies seriously and comes for anything other than lots of cleavage and awesome but nutty fights is doing it wrong. I really enjoyed the last movie simply because it plays out like many a testosterone fueled day dreams I had as a kid. There's no logic, little coherence, just a lot of hot chicks and ass kicking.

To put it shortly and simply , Resident Evil 5 and 6 were pretty goddamn stupid.Ditto the movies, all of them.

These games , and those movies , they deserve each other.

I was okay with the first, what, maybe three of them? The others were pretty lame. I remember I saw one of them in 3D when I was living in Ireland with a buddy from college and it was pretty much the single worst movie I had ever seen. Not sure which one it was, though.

The first 3 were pretty decent to me, especially the first 2. But the rest.....no. They dragged it out for TOO long. I'm all for mindless action but damn they started getting silly with the rest of the series after the first 3. I really didn't like how Alice pretty much became invincible, girl couldn't be killed no matter what situation she was in....

Now the animated movies, Degeneration and Damnation, I actually enjoyed watching...

I really enjoy the movies. Any zombie movie/game/book/series has me.
But I have a special place in my pants for Mila. So i could never tear down her movies.

Considering how the game series is now nearly FUBAR, I wouldn't mind them continuing the series in those animated films. Though I think the overall story has run its course. As much as I like the main characters, they should give their story some kind of closure.

When you take them for what they are which is just lots of action with some good special effects they are pretty good. I enjoyed every single one of them. My favorite is Extinction.

I enjoyed the ones that involved Milla Jovovich. To my understanding, there're two plotlines or sort of two separate stories in the Resident Evil franchise. I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct here though.

Oh I see. I wasn't really sure of it. I mean I knew that there are two sets of cast and possibly two plots, but I thought they overlap at some point.

I own the first three, but haven't watched Extinction yet. I still need to get Afterlife and Retribution. I liked the first two.

The 1st film was okay, the 2nd and 4th film were awful and the 3rd film was insanely awful. Haven't seen the 5th one yet.

No, and I don't really care for the rest of Paul W.S. Anderson's films. He's like an Uwe Boll that takes himself seriously. His movies aren't really that bad but they're not anything good either. And I can shake off those pretentious film snobbery standards and enjoy many films, just not his. Probably the one movie of his I liked best was Event Horizon, back when it came out, though I find it much less watchable these days.
