As long as they don't cut the budget on it from Matt Wiener's 30 million dollar pay day for Mad Men since he didn't like the original offer. Supposedly this is why Walking Dead's 2nd season was poop because of budget cuts.

Sorry, not even close. AMC has all the "high brow" entertainment, but most of it is a snoozer IMO. I haven't watched much on it, though.

Their only downfall is their budget. They literally cut the budget for everything other then mad man(aka their favorite child) Breaking bad almost ended up on FX because of it

HBO wins. Rome, Game of Thrones, The Pacific and Band of Brothers (just the shows I have watched) are all fantastic. Breaking Bad is the closest I have seen anyone come to HBO quality. The Walking Dead should be awesome, yet it never seems to find it's legs.

Honestly I don't even consider watching AMC anymore. I've wanted to watch some of the shows on there that I've heard praise about, but I can't be bothered to get into them at this point. IMO the best cable network is FX.

LOL how does AMC beat HBO? It's a good station, no doubt. But HBO has alot more freedom for what they can show.

AMC has been great recently. Absolutely love Breaking Bad and Mad Men. However, HBO hands down is better.

Like everyone's been saying, HBO's been around a lot longer for TV content, so that's really kind of unfair. A more fair fight would be between AMC and FX, but even then, FX has Archer, Always Sunny, and mother f*cking Louie, not to mention any of the dramas that I haven't gotten around to watching.

That said, you're doing something right when you have Mad Men and Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead playing at the same time. The former is an Emmy darling, the latter brings home the bacon (in the form of ratings), and BrBa does both.

I don't watch much tv but I'd have to disagree and say that I like FX better. Archer, Louie, Justified, It's Always Sunny, and what I've seen of Sons of Anarchy outweigh what I've seen of Breaking Bad and Mad Men. That's not saying that MM and BB are bad shows, in fact I really like them. It's just that FX has more quality content in my opinion. Admittedly however, I haven't gotten very far into BB, MM, or Sons of Anarchy.

Oh and I'm not including HBO because I haven't seen enough of its shows to make an opinion.

To anyone who has seen The Killing: what's wrong with it? I haven't seen it yet but I've seen some pretty bad things being said about it and I was wondering if it was worth catching up on to watch the second season.

Red herrings galore, typical "it's Seattle so we'll make it as murky as possible" atmosphere, and plot holes that a truck could drive through.

Ah, guess I'll just pass it over then. I was mildly interested from the commercials because of the whole Twin Peaks "who killed..." thing.

AMC - Breaking Bad and Mad Men

HBO - The Wire, The Sopranossammyjenkis898

These are probably the four greatest dramas in TV history. Two of those are still on.

Right now, AMC wins. Overall in history HBO wins, but we have to be fair here. AMC hasn't been producing original programing for long.

AMC's shows are better than HBO's right now. I'd take Breaking Bad and Mad Men over Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, by a mile.
