Hello guys I am 17 years old and I am now entering college, I am like "starting a new phase on my life" and I would like to start wearing suits (it's actually a thing I have been loving to do for some time ago).

What do you suggest guys?

no, you might be too young to afford them though, I don't think the kids at college are going to care... well they might care, they'll wonder why you're coming to class in a suit

You aren't too young to wear suits, however, the only time I really 'dressed-up' for any college classes was when I had to give presentations or speeches, otherwise I just wore stuff that fit the dress code - usually jeans and a tshirt or sweatshirt.

lol you are entitled to wear whatever you want but it will likely look rediculous. And most kids think it's cool to dress up until they start doing it regularly (ie: a job). Then the magic of a suit wears off fast.

Nothing wrong with wearing a collared dress shirt to class, a full suit with a tie & jacket is a bit much though.

Also, in college, I'd say anything more than basketball shorts, a tshirt and flipflops is overdressed when the weather is still warm.

If you can borrow a few suits from Don Cherry those would be good to wear to class.

Suits aren't about age as much as they are about build. That and when and where. Being the only guy in a suit doesn't make you classy, it just makes you "that guy in a suit".

I guess that's the difference between us, TC, because I tend to have a more introverted type of personality where I don't like to be the center of attention. But, hey, if you want to be the 'suit guy' mentioned in the post by Ace6301, then go ahead :)

Don't let the slobs deter you.  Good fashion sense nowadays is underrated.  If you want to wear a suit fine, you will stand out a bit in it but haters gonna hate.

Maybe get a nice hat to go with it.

so what exactly are you going for? like a business suit kind of thing like the douchey guys that sell cell phones or the latest MLM crazes, or like a retro thing like a 50/60s London mod fashion revival? personally I think that latter sounds cooler. tumblr_m75n0p8cqn1r8xgabo1_500.jpg plus they rode Vespa's those are fun to scoot about on

You're still going to wear a suit to class, aren't you? :P lol, I think he will but some people need to learn the hard way. After his 1st day of college he will probably quit, I just hope he doesn't waste money buying something like 5 suits he won't wear after the 1st day.

I have a friend going to Cornell and of the pictures I've seen everyone just dresses in jeans and t shirts like most college students.

If you want to dress nicer I'd go with dress pants and sportcoats vs just plain suits. Much more versatile and wouldn't look out of place.

No but it's not necessary and inappropriate for school (unless some project requires it). Wear a suit for formal events, funerals, or job interviews but for college? If you want to dress nice for college, wear khakis and a collared t-shirt and make sure it's comfortable especially during the summer. Other reason not to war a suit is due to the heat.

Also, there are different types of suits each suited for a different situation which you should look up on Google. You're not too young to wear a suit but it's not appropriate unless the situation warrants it.

Being a 17 year old boy who wears a suit to class every day is as weird as a 40 year old man who wears a graphic tee, basketball shorts and Vans to weddings.
